Is the 59 Fender Bassman Tonemaster going to be a game changer or over priced unobtanium. In this video we discuss and speculate the brilliance and issues with tonemasters and are they the future or going to be an unreachable item for the working musician.

I think most people get these amps wrong. They aren't a platform amp. They aren't for everyone. But, what they are is a Fender amp. A Fender amp where you can get that Fender sound at a reasonable volume, if you need. Or go direct & be silent. They aren't a great amp to pull your pedal board up to & expect to & be a transparent to driven amp. If you want a Fender amp sound at living room volume. You buy a tone master. If you want to play concert stages, get the twin. If you play small gigs, get the deluxe. Plug straight in & get your settings. It's a beautiful thing. I'm really curious to play the Bassman! I might have to start begging the wife now.... Glad they have gotten back to commiting to this like of amps.

I agree about the lovely amp in the room vibe and fender amp vibe you get. I love my deluxe reverb and it has been the best amp I have ever had. Part of me was worried that Tonemaster would not continue to develop but they have raised the game by going Tweed!

@@James_stanley_guitar_uk I feel further updates would be great, on the present amps. But yes, the fact that they are building the lineup, is great!

Yes,just when you think you’re all done. I’ve got the twin and will be interested (at least) to look at the bass man

If u don’t compare it side by side or ever played the originals u will love it as a great fender sound. These comparison videos are not realistic. Average people aren’t gigging with a super reverb that like a bomb weight and volume. I will never buy the pricier and heavy reverbs but I get close with 23 lbs. these things are awsome

$1500 is too much, I bought my Tonemaster Twin for less than 900 on sale a year ago and I love it. If Tonemaster amps would hover in the 8-900 range, they would not be able to make enough of them and would dominate a lot of the market.

If the Bassman Tone Master is anywhere near as good as the Deluxe Reverb/Twin Tone Masters, I would be willing to pay close to the msrp. I've always wanted a tube driven '59 Bassman but it was always just a little too expensive and way too heavy and loud for using it as a practice or gigging amp. I'm excited to see Fender finally giving into the consumer demand and including an effects loop as well as adding reverb. I'm also intrigued by the "Vintage-Tight" switch and how that might improve the amps versatility. Last but definitely not least is the claimed weight of just 32 pounds. For reference, the Blues Jr. is 31.5 pounds. A half pound difference and you get a 4x10 monster vs a single 12" speaker with 15 watts. And unlike the Deluxe Reverb and Twin Tone Masters, the Bassman still retains its original speakers. I can't wait for some reviews and demos to start popping up.

One area of concern is that these amps get updated/replaced every few years for the “next” thing. Resale value won’t keep up as they become undesirable and non-repairable (pcb circuit board vs handwiring). But as a Bassman Reissue owner, I’d love one of these. The tube version is simply too loud and too heavy. Getting the best attenuator for it, costs the same as the Tone Master. Yes there are more affordable attenuators, but finding a really good one that can handle 2 ohms is hard to come by. Most are 4 ohms.

This is an excellent point, I find that probably one of the best things about tonemaster amps is the scalability of volume and the prospect of this in a bassman without buying an attenuator (being aware of the 2 Ohms thing) is pretty awesome

Fender won’t repair these tonemaster amps once the warranty expires . You could always use one as a talking piece, tell people how wonderful it used to sound.

I love the Fender Bassman and love the tone master series so I've been waiting for this one. The price is lot but I'll probably trade in a bunch of gear I'm not using to knock the price down. I guess the cost of the additional effects loop added to it. I thought it would be around what the Super cost.

My Victoria Bassman which has been one of the most accurate reproductions made over the last 20 years sounds nothing like a Marshall. Don't get the idea that buying a Tweed Bassman is going to get you a sort of compact Marshall.

The DNA is there, if you listen to the JTM 45 theres a similar feel and sound. Of course the Celestion speakers sound vastly different

the thing about it being digital means there is nothing over and above the digital "59 bassman setting" on the latest modeler; The modeler may even be better; it just comes down to who modeled it better. Now you get the cab and the speakers (a lot of people shit on those new Jensens, i always thought they were great)- you are really just buying the look....the vibe.

I mean... Why not get a Katana for 1/3 of the price? They don't sound that different and the Katana does more than any Tone Master. The Fender sound my ass for 1-1.5k
