Maybe his first time was with Meri and that's why she knows about it and that's why he has so much anger towards her because maybe they had to get married because of that.

When u guys talk about these women still wearing their garments I got to wondering what exactly the garments are. Then u described what ur talking about, I saw how those women were dressing (especially in the first few seasons) as them just being modest. Bc they do talk about how they try to dress very modest and what all they try to cover up. Ive noticed that some of the shirts they wear, most women would just wear it as like a tank top but they always have an undershirt so I always assumed it was for modesty

I'm so sorry for what you went through. SA in religious communities are so common, especially by those in leadership positions or in good standing since no one will give accusations any credence. While your dad wasn't personally assisting anyone, he was enabling and approving of and complicit in this kind of abuse. How have you been able to maintain a relationship with him?

44:59 Concerning Aurora & Brianna not dating or married, I just thought, "Would he want Kody as a father-in-law, or Robyn as their MIL?" Robyn would be just like one of those Smotherd to death people up in their business controlling them. That would be a huge turn-off I'd think! Just sayn'!

Look up the phrase Lying For The Lord and you will see how the leaders have always justified lying. However, in Brown's case there's no way it can be justified as ignorant upbring. They all knew that Utah weren't going to give them big trouble. They all lied to the public. I knew then that they were massive manipulators based on that lie alone. Look now on Without a Crystal Ball C & K's court case is being handled with gloves. Plus, they all knew K & R didn't meet the way they were telling the people and that K's past was not what they were presenting. That's called lying and manipulating in the non mormon world... because they knew.

What you are saying about the needs of the family coming first is clearly evident in the episode where Cody and Christine are supposed to build a rock sculpture to represent their relationship for their therapist and Cody railroads Christine into building one for the whole family (a family he eventually abandons because they get in the way of his goals).

Knowing Robyn and the “religion” as you do, why do you think she is fighting for and crying over the idea of sitting on a porch with sister wives and children she has zero contact or relationship with? She has never done anything to build or foster a relationship with these women and have alienated their children from the start so it makes zero sense to me. Any insights?
@cherylynpotter140117 сағат бұрын
The Browns supposedly made decisions by committee. I'm sure Kody manipulated Meri. Janelle said she believed there would be more wives so she agreed. Christine obviously didn't want Robin but I think she was out voted on the choice.

I remember that, on their first (recorded) Family Camping Trip with 4 wives, it took Meri and Robyn ages to do their make up because they acted like giggly teenagers. The bigger kids (especially the Boys) were so annoyed by that and Christine and Janelle did they best to keep them calm. "Why do they wear make up? We're camping!"

On SW show, they say the head wife chooses a wife for the family. (Koty called Meri the “bait”) is that the way a new wife is supposed to be brought into the family? (Although we later find out supposedly Robyn & Koty saw each other at church. In one of your pod casts (Melanie) you talk about walking on fire, can you explain? Also, you talk about going back to AUB because your child was sick? Do you mind sharing? I want to remain respectful! Sorry a lot at one time. Answer only what your comfortable with! 💞

Robyn’s dream of sister wives on the porch on rocking chairs in their golden years always confounds me. I am fairly certain when Kody’s father passed away, his mom and Janelle’s mom probably didn’t live together or even hang out regularly.

I couldn’t believe when Christine was at the dr’s office on the table & Kody was asking the dr. (Dr. Bean, I think?) Questions about Meri’s infertility & what type recommendations did he have for IVF!? Christine talked about how open they were with that Dr. He knew they were a pleural family, but it felt so wrong for so many reasons! I felt that Christine was commenting for Kody?? It had to make her feel uncomfortable? With cameras rolling? As Kody would say, it gave me an “ick” factor! 😂

I am interested in how family planning is addressed in polygamy and polygamous relationship. Is it completely against the religion to use contraception and so women just have babies until they no longer are able to? Do private conversations take place between each sister wife and the husband about how they chose to address family planning?
@muriel5826Күн бұрын
Thank you for mentioning the T-shirts under the spaghetti strat tops. That was a look that doesn’t need to return, lol. Those ladies all looked as comfortable as a cat who’s been dressed up in baby clothes, by a 6 year old. 😂 And yeah, it’s very interesting that R didn’t wear garments until she was on TV. I know that she comes off as devout, but I’m not convinced. If she was living in fear of eternal punishment, or even eternal lack lustreness, I think she would a) have gone to church regularly (instead of never in the past 13 years!), b) follow some of the religion’s mundane rules (like garments), c) raise her kids to respect the religion, d) leave K for a man who wants plural marriage, ie., choose the devout path over riches, and e) advocate for ending the show since that’s what the AUB asked for.

My assumption is that Robyn and Kody speak to their children about how awful the outside world is and how mean people are regarding the Browns and it makes the kids fearful to do anything independently.
@muriel5826Күн бұрын
I don’t think it’s working that well, tho, cuz Dayton has had a successful secular university education and Aurora and Breanna are involved in a non-LDS church and also attending secular college. I’m hopeful that all their kids will break free of their control.

Based on the type of outfits the wives wore at the beginning of the show . Was that the popular look at the time ? In a forum many years ago someone said that robyn talked them into wearing that type of spaghetti top over a long sleeves as a joke on them all . Just curious if that rumor was true

All you have to do is look at the family and you can see the difference between a strong, straightforward personality and a mean girl personality. With Mary as the “head” wife, the family seemed to be doing as well as any plural family could vs Robyn, and a family that broke down more with every bit of influence she gained.
@muriel5826Күн бұрын
Yes. I mean it still wasn’t great under Meri, cuz the wives were tryna placate a husband with narcissistic traits, and the kids were living under the roof of a father that doles out transactional love, but yeah, Meri probably did the best that anyone could.

If they don't have 3 wives/live monogamously, do they think they go to the terrestrial level of Heaven?

I honeslty believe a BIG reason Robyns girls are “behind” is bc how Robyn treats them and raised them. She has kept those girls as close to her as possible for years! They werent around the other kids when they got older so its like their maturing stopped bc Robyn “babies” them so badly
