Okay but for anyone confused somehow, (well I could be wrong) he doesnt just want an mp3 player. He wants to design his own, based off of the ipod classic im assuming, and give it the capability of a streaming platform without a screen as a fun project and learning experience for his channel. Thats what I got from this, he has ambition, ideas, and heart. Just needs the confidence to apply it and hopefully goes through with the project. There is no failing, there can always be a v2 and a 3v and v4. Try to make the thing you want and disregard how you do, just do it again, and again, and again.. good luck and have fun. Just do it.

An ipod 4th gen is 40 dollars, how are ipods expensive
@LLyric_8 күн бұрын
And there are mad parts for ipods
@TerminalEighty8 күн бұрын
Okay for the parts thing ya I might’ve been wrong on that one. But for the iPod being cheap I also did a terrible job behind why I said it was expensive. An iPod would become expensive because I would want to mod it and stuff and since I have no idea what I am doing I figure I’ll go through multiple parts in this experiment. My thinking is that I can do it for less money and it would be that it’s cheaper to build something from scratch equivalent to a modified iPod (once I have the designed locked in, and ignoring iteration) Anyways could be totally wrong again and embarrass myself again 😅

I think I'm confused. What you described, as I understand it, is readily available for anywhere between $20-100 bucks on Amazon, and they even have some that look very similar to ipods, including ipod nano-alikes with no screen. Are you just wanting to put your own spin on designing it, or am I missing something about the fundamentals of the device itself?
@TerminalEighty8 күн бұрын
Ya I think I actually know what you are talking about. Something like this? tinyurl.com/T80mp3. I actually owned this MP3 and I actually didn’t like it. I really do think the iPod is kind of peak of MP3 player design with the click wheel and stuff and ya I basically want to clone it with my own spin on it. In the next video I’m gonna try to explain what I want the design/features are gonna be so hopefully that kind of clears up the confusion.

I think the general concern with a deviceless system would probably be security and still convenience. If the devices are shared in some way, they’d have to load your stuff from a cloud, but I’d worry about some equivalent of a card skimmer every time I had to use sensitive information. The most secure systems are the ones you have full control over the hardware for that other people aren’t also using. As for convenience, the only way to match having it always in your pocket would be to have these shared devices literally every place people are with one available to each person, which might as well be one they take with them.

Got on a plane a few days ago and everyone’s tv synchronously started playing some stupid ad before we would take off. Audio played directly into the cabin (because everyone was being forced to watch the same ad). I thought that was so forced like everyone must sit here and watch this ad before we are allowed to take off

Unless you're buying the actual jersey off of a player's back, it's not gonna have the advertisements on it, for what that's worth. And the only way we're going to get a better advertising landscape is legislation. Getting lawmakers to ignore lobbyists and actually pass measures that corpos don't like is damn near impossible these days, though, unless something bad happens to a celebrity. THEN we care...
@TerminalEighty29 күн бұрын
For the Jersey point ya I kind messed up on that one 😅 But I totally agree with you on the lobbying part. Boggles the mind how companies can basically buy their way into government …

It's sad how many tools parents have to tailor what their kids have access to on a device, but don't bother using them. For instance, It's trivially easy set up youtube kids in a way that only gives your kid access to, say, old televised children's shows, which you can have a pretty high confidence in because their original medium was far more strict that youtube is. Are parents going to do that? The answer is probably "yes" more frequently than we assume, pessimists that we naturally tend to be, but nowhere near enough.
@AvendesoraАй бұрын
It's so refreshing to see a video like this that isn't pure doom and gloom about absolutely everything to do with VR/AR/Immersive technology in general. The idea of a deviceless future is fascinating, but the logistics of accomplishing it in a place like the US are kind of insane, not because of the scale of it, but because of how hard it would be to convince smaller towns to do it even if there was some central agency that took care of maintenance and paid for the devices.

@AvendesoraАй бұрын
@@TerminalEighty I'm not the person you asked but I do have a suggestion! As much as the "playing a clip/showing an image of something relevant/funny as the thing is said" schtick is, in my opinion, very funny and good, videos like this are pretty information-dense and do a lot of comparing and contrasting. It would be nice to have visuals for that kind of information that stick around a little longer and give us a clear idea of who does what in those areas. That might require some restructuring of the script to give you good places to put a graphic like that, but I think the extra effort would be worth it and make videos a little more engaging while helping the key points stick better.

trying to replace phones with ar glasses is the wrong move ar glasses should compliment phones by tying it with them, i drive a lot for work having ar glasses as a HUD could potentilly be very benficial if done right(distracting if done wrong) if they keep the processing on the phones and just have the diplay cameras and battery on the headsets it can work very good.

I think we always forget that form factor of smartphones existed before the existence of smartphones (regular phones) same cannot be said for current vr, glasses etc i think it would rather be better to stick with iot devices and make incremental changes for efficiency
@TerminalEightyАй бұрын
Right! I did forget to put that point in there that the cellphone existed before the smartphone so convincing someone to carry a smartphone was basically not a question. I do agree with you that as we move to a world of “spatial computing” it would make sense for IoT devices to improve around us.

As someone who doesn't have to wear glasses and isn't used to them, I find them pretty uncomfortable like when I have to wear 3D glasses or safety glasses. I would prefer sticking to my phone over wearing something all the time. I do like the idea of no device though

Having gotten the chance to use snapchats equivalent of Orion, spectacles I can confidently say the tech is not there. Yes it works, but it was super buggy and a pain in the ass to develop on. Even if those are fixed I think they won’t take off in the way the phone did. Like you said it’s just a new form and they are super uncomfortable. I can play on an Oculus for hours and be fine but after 10 minutes using the spectacles I had a colossal headache and almost threw up. And I was only drawing nothing really motion intensive like you can get with VR. I’m confident this will stay as a niece thing and anyone who actually buys these and uses them in public will forever be shamed for looking like they are on drugs.
