I'm a Kirkland Signature nut!. LOL Now that I have started to get into wine, I wonder if the same level of quality crosses over to their wines like the other products they sell. I recently bought their Malbec which a lady at the store was raving about and at 8 dollars it was too cheap to not give it a try. I'll let you know how that one went but I wanted to ask you about their Sauvignon Blanc. I heard that it has a bit of a cult following but that it can be polarizing people either love it or hate it. Have you tried it? Any thoughts?

Hey, thanks for watching! I tried their 2023 Kirkland Signature Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand and wasn't too impressed. I feel like their reds often outshine their whites. The price is always hard to beat, but sometimes a few dollars more can get you something a lot more tasty. Cheers! :)

Here is an interesting note: The NY Jets are the reason I got into wine. Not gonna bore with the whole story but here I am looking looking at my KZbin feed and there you are holding a wine bottle and wearing a Jets shirt. The internet is an interesting place for sure. FYI Im a big fan of Kirkland Signature products as well.

Ha! That's amazing. I didn't watch football until college, when there was nothing better to do on a Sunday than watch sporty ball. My roommate was a Steelers fan (Bloomsburg U in PA), I didn't want to root for the Giants because it seemed like a bandwagon thing to do at the time, and I always liked an underdog... lol! Didn't know what I was getting myself into at the time. :D

"You're not looking to impress anybody, you're just trying to have a glass of wine and enjoy yourself." -EXACTLY my thoughts whenever I buy a bottle of wine. I just want a good, cheap bottle of wine that's nice and enjoyable, and doesn't cost me my life savings. I'll have to try that Cult Blanc. Although, I'm not sure what to think of Sauvignon Blanc's. I've only had 1 so far recently, and it didn't impress me that much. 😒 I won't give up on them, though! I do like a good Chardonnay. You made that French Beaujolais Blanc sound pretty good! What other (white) summer sippers do you like, or recommend? I like a good Riesling. A little sweet, but not too sweet. Whatever else you recommend or like, would be my suggestion for a video. Or, fall is coming. What are some good fall wines (red or white)? Another suggestion. Thanks!

Some of the best Sauv Blancs are Sancerre wines. Usually above that sweet spot of $10-$15, but also worth it. But, I'll be honest... Sauv Blanc is one of those wines I can go pretty cheap on and not really care. I really enjoyed that Beaujolais Blanc! Quite a surprise. I've really enjoyed discovering Albarino over the last year. Another crisp white wine with the added element of salinity on the palate. And, Spanish and Portugese wines tend to be really good values whether its a white or a red. Cheers and thanks for the comment!

There are many non-oaked chards in CA now. Plus most lower priced French chards are low to no oaked, and much better balanced than New World chards. Another good alternative are Pinot Gris from Oregon.

I think I'll always be gun-shy about California Chardonnay... and yellow labels... and any description that uses the word butter. lol... but I do love a good Pinot Gris. And, I'm finding that most old world chardonnay is really quite enjoyable. Thanks for watching and commenting!

All wines from TJ are either sweet or have some flaw, usually a disgusting aftertaste.
@TheWineFool1234 ай бұрын
Well, I respectfully disagree. I've tried over a dozen of their labeled wines in the last year and have found some of them to be pretty good, if not great for the price. But, taste is subjective.

My mouth is now watering right now for one of these! I'm adding these to my list of wines from Trader Joe's to try. I recently tried a Tempranillo wine from Rioja, and it was delicious. I also am in love with a good French GSM (from the Rhone valley). The last one I had was "The Tenebres" from Trader Joe's, also a very nice GSM blend. Thanks for the suggestions on these, I will be sure to try them!

Trader Joes: "Good quality wine, at a great price." Absolutely it is! I've found several wines at Trader Joe's that are pretty darn good, even ones less than $10. In fact, most of them are less than $10. (So if you want some under $10 suggestions, I can send them your way.) Are they to die for? No, probably not. They are just a good, or very good, wine to have to wind down and end your day with (for me at least). Thanks for this video! I'm always hesitant trying out the store branded wines. But after watching your videos, and some other videos, I will try them all one day. I will have to try out this Trader Joe's Pinot Noir. I'm always looking for a good red to enjoy during the summer. I typically switch to whites to drink on a hot summer day/evening, but red wines just have that nice fruity-ness to them that I really enjoy. I will definitely give this Trader Joe's a try someday! Thanks!

"Sometimes we're just looking for something that drinks well." This is what I'm almost always looking for, and Trader Joe's has delivered. I'm always looking for that good, or very good, cheap (under $10) bottle of wine, no matter what type of grape it is. I want a bottle that tastes good and is well balanced that I can just open up and enjoy at any time. Trader Joe's delivers on this. I can't believe the selection ours has with so many wines under $10. Anyway, I enjoyed this video of you comparing a big name to 2 TJ's wines. I wondered if something for $5 could stand up to something three times more. Thanks for your input on this! Very well done! Great insights on all of them. Keep it up!👍👍 P.S. May I ask what your Vivino name? Or can you include a link to follow you on your website or KZbin about section? I use the app as well to keep track of the wine I buy and drink and to see what other people's ratings are. Thanks!
@TheWineFool1235 ай бұрын
Thank you for your kind words! So, I actually stopped rating on Vivino a few years ago. I still use it to keep track of some wines I buy because it's easy to snap a picture, but I'm not actively rating on there. I also use it and the wine-searcher app or wine-searcher.com for research, as Vivino doesn't always have in-depth info.

I'm starting to get back into the wine drinking again, and I like a good Chardonnay. My oldest son, who just turned 21 in January, is in the phase of trying EVERYTHING alcohol related. I don't blame him, we were all 21 once and wanted to try things. My point: I bought a Chardonnay (Chateau Ste. Michelle CHardonnay 2021) and his first sip: "This tastes like butter!" I laughed. I thought he would like it, becuase it had that buttery flavor to it, but he did not. I liked it! Chateau Ste. Michelle is one of my favorite wine producers from the Columbia Valley Washington area. I love their Riesling! Side note: Since I'm getting back into wine again, I'm looking for suggestions from wine experts on the "best bang for your buck" type of wines. I came across your Trader Joe's videos at first and enjoyed them! I like when wine experts go to a store and pick some random wines, red or white ($10 or less in one video, $15 or less in another video, etc.), and then do taste tests on them. I've found a LOT of really good wine for less than $10 that way. Trader Joe's is a good place to go for it all too. Examples: Mbali (white), Floriana (white), and Oxte (red) I've all had and loved! So if you are in the mood for doing a cheap wine video, try those out! Costo also has some really good wine under $10 as well. That's all, sorry this message got quite long! Cheers!
@TheWineFool1235 ай бұрын
I used to love Chateau Ste. Michelle! I honestly haven't had one in years, as I'm always trying something new. Yep, that buttery-ness is usually what throws me off of Chard. Glad you liked the Trader Joe's videos! I like stopping in there from time to time to see what new labels they're offering. I've also visited Costco, though my white wine video from them wasn't quite as fruitful as the red. But, I am partial to reds. Cheers!

Thanks for the video, I really appreciate the Kirkland/Costco wine reviews. I'm a bigger fan of the Sauvignon Blanc than you. I think it's a good wine and for the price a great wine. I haven't tried the other 2, but I've heard they are "cheap" wine, meaning not great. Seems to be more or less in-line with your thoughts. I'm looking forward to your reviews of the rest of the haul. I have enjoyed a few of your videos but something is either wrong with your palette recently or you overestimated these wines. None of them are memorable but all of them are “glou”, easy drinking options. If people you are with love Kendall Jackson Chard, the Kirkland Sonoma is an acceptable substitute. The Pinot Grigio is watered down but for a 90 degree event, it’s perfect. The Sauv blanc is meh. Compared to the low end choices at Trader Joe’s, these are far better wines.
@TheWineFool1237 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching. In the end, taste is subjective. My expectations for these wines weren't particularly high, but as I said, my tastes have changed over the years. I think I could find something, exponentially in some cases, better than all 3 of those for just a little more money. I did caveat my comments on the chardonnay in that I am not a fan... especially of American oaky Chards. Apologies to all my Kendell Jackson fans out there. :) As for the comparison to Trader Joe's, admittedly, I haven't had any of their white options. Perhaps for an episode down the road. Appreciate the feedback.
