I still didn't learn how to create supergrided blocks, without looking into files and blueprints on console.

so any time you have a large grid block connected to a small grid block the large grid blocks are gonna register as small grid? or is there ways to get large thruster or tool power on a small grid?

I'm having an issue where after the first launch, the button panel forgets the "Fire Missile" group, and I have to re-add it to the button every time there's a new missile welded up. Any idea to help fix this?
@domedsky22 күн бұрын
I added a basic task block to launch the missile from a safe 20k out, and a sensor to detonate when close to target. It uses ions to reach destination then switches on hydros when locked onto target 😆

Hah! Okay, a few years late.. but someone either got real lucky and knew a little about hacking, or REALLY knew a lot about software. The double rotor thing is a bug where Space Engineers isn't iterating down the subgrid tree to detach children properly when limits (like distance from rotor to head). I'm guessing the game is assuming there's only one piston head (I'm assuming that's what it's assuming!), and thus only does boundary checking on the first one it finds (or maybe the linking structure only traces head to rotor, but not rotor back to all heads attached.. just the last one attached) I've run into a similar bug before, and had to add extra code to track extra errant children that shouldn't exist. Basically, always boundary check everything. If adding a head to a rotor, the game should check to see if the rotor already has a head, and if so, don't allow it Things like that. Maybe there's a reason they couldn't, hard to tell. So, they either knew this potential vulnerability of nested children in software and then tested to see if they left it open... or happened upon somehow linking a head with two pistons and then wondered what they could do with that. Or a bit of both. VERY clever.. thank you for the explanation. I'd never have figured that out.

*humor* The age of capital ships is over! Long live Clang!! Note: you could use timer blocks and interchange to armor piercing. a 1/2 built drill does not take damage. Punch through armor and follow up with the boom booms!! Claaaannnnnnnggggg

I love how space engineers has gone though the same progression as earth: - just go about your business - something horribly tragic and unexplainable happens - make religion (clang) - realize the thing is in fact explainable - make science (clang drives)

I use a block called Attachment Plate. It's a large block that lets you build small blocks on it. This isn't a Klang Kaller either. It isn't buggy at all, it isn't like the small rotor head on a large rotor trick where it could wobble off. This seems buggy to me. Of course, I would like to put small blocks on big blocks but SE2 HAS IT BUILT IN. Thats fantastic news. Anyways thats my 2 cents.

I often design such things only for the purpose of remote mining. But, they are pretty useful and cheap when used as transport. The new update with the cockpit makes this design really work.

One thing I've always struggled with when it comes to designing a ship was creating an interesting shape. I never considered trying to just make a silhouette I liked, then build it out into the third dimension. I'm going to have to try that soon.

How do you make your ships i a grey space
@Jacmac13 ай бұрын
It appears that these are no longer viable to build. If there is too much tension, the heads rip off the pistons. If there is enough tension to propell the object > 110mps, most or all of the mechanism will be destroyed by the jolt.
@Jacmac13 ай бұрын
All of the videos I see of these things do a great job of demonstration, but a really bad job of showing the details. The overall concept isn't that difficult to understand, but the construction and how the projectiles are set up, like placement and such is just skipped over.

you can also use thrusters on hinges, rotors, and pistons you just need to set them up with either merge blocks or timer blocks, i sometimes use diagonal thrusters to fly up and both forward without the need of multiple extra thrusters
