There was an upbeat, melodic JAM from the COMMITTEE LP that reminded me of a long lost Floyd song that I heard on the radio 31 years ago. It was about 5 minutes long and had a baroque-like keyboard melody and a trippy guitar solo with few lyrics and a nice tempo. Does anyone know what this song's title might be?

warning: this is going to be a very long comment talking about alot of different stuff. each paragraph has its own different topic so i hope it isn't too difficult to read. A lot of songs from different Pink Floyd albums sound like they could go together in a single album. Sometimes Floyd and Spotify would release song compilations that would be total crap because they'd try to combine songs from Piper and The Wall (for example) and it just doesn't fit. In fact most of the songs in both albums wouldn't fit in any of the other albums. even a few of the vaguer-meaning songs in The Wall, which shows how diverse their music is. There are songs in AHM, Meddle, and Obscured By Clouds that sound like they could've been in the same album, and I wish they would get some of the songs from those albums and have them transition to each other with wind or sound effects, as I think it would make for a perfect compilation. I'm sure it would never happen, as I don't think Spotify on its own is allowed to do that with their music, and I'm also sure David Gilmour is completely done with Pink Floyd. I also would like to say how the songs from WYWH and Animals could be combined in a compilation album as well. I've seen a lot of compilation albums and, like I said, none of the songs ever go together and it always sounds all over the place. It's almost as if they ran all of their music in some kind of random shuffler and just added the songs in that random order. I've actually made an audio file combining the two albums (alot of the songs on Animals were going to be on WYWH). It starts with Shine On You Crazy Diamond Pt. I and then blends into Sheep with wind ripped from The Wish You Where album combined with sheep and bird noises. I really like how Pink Floyd often began their In The Flesh Tour with Sheep when they begin playing songs from Animals. I'd also like to mention that I used to 2018 version of both songs because you can hear the electronic and synth sounds in Sheep a lot more and I like Pigs On The Wing 2018 version better than the original. Then I have the song connect to Dogs with some added dog noises and wind sound effects. However instead of using the 2018 version, I mostly used the original version, as I like how the production quality gives the song a sort of dark, echoey feel. It sounds like music that was made last week being recorded with older equipment, inside a large, dark, echoey mansion. I also combined a few guitar solos and parts of You've Gotta Be Crazy from Live at Wembley. though it could be a little jarring so I changed the pitch and tempo around so that it sounds more like an experimental, yet good-sounding edition rather than something that was shoe-horned in. After Dogs, I follow it with Welcome To The Machine and that concludes the first half of the fan compilation. First song in Part II would be Pigs, which will feature more pig sound effects in the beginning of the song, similar to the live version of the song back in the 70s. that would later go into Have A Cigar. Have A Cigar would go into Wish You Were Here, and then I downloaded a version of Pigs on the Wings with an extended solo. Although this version re-sings the first Pigs On The Wings (because it's basically POTW pt. I and pt. II with a Snowy White solo in between them), enough time has passed where it's not even a big deal, and the solo makes it worth it. the song also sound much more echoey and louder since its using the original production quality. And although that may be a bit inconsistent, I feel like it works well because the end of the song gives the whole thing a different meaning and I kind of like the idea of meaning being tied into sound and feel. it's also very subtle. It being loud and echoey would make it sound like it's the very last song of the album but it almost hits you as a surprise as you listen to the second Shine On You Crazy Diamond. after I listen to the audio file, i like to listen to DSOTM right after. it find it amazing to listen to the - almost sad - ending of Shine On You Crazy Diamond, blending into silence, and then suddenly hearing heartbeats of Speak To Me, going into Breath In The Air. I find it phenomenal. And then of course, after i listen to Dark Side, I listen to Echoes. though of course i don't think they belong on the same album and certainly not on the same album as the others I mentioned. Especially Echoes, since Echoes doesn't really sing about society issues or any life problems as far as I cant tell. Dark Side MIGHT sort of fit a little bit with the other two albums because Dark Side talks about specific topics in a similar way that the other two albums do, but it doesn't SOUND anything like them and a lot of the things on Wish You Were Here are a bit more ambiguously written in some ways and a couple of songs are specifically about Syd Barrett. A bit off topic but I noticed how Welcome to The Machine has a sort of double meaning within its lyrics. On one hand, the Machine represents the music industry and the lyrics speaks of someone entering in the music industry and being used. but on the other hand, the lyrics strangely sound like a father telling his son that he needs to get himself ready for the world. I think it goes well with the compilation because songs like Sheep, Dogs, Pigs, and even Shine kinda gives you an idea of the kind of world one needs to get ready for. And Have a Cigar is an amazing song to represent one's interaction with a dog-like character. Even songs like Dogs have sort of a double meaning to it, because the song is talking about the cut throat business men but it's also sometimes seems to be talking about criminals in general and those who hunt the sheep. Though, i do think the song's name is a little odd. I mean I do get it and it does make sense in terms of the last few lyrics of the song and I also get how each song HAS to represent a farm animal. But if you think about it, Dogs represent protectors of society. not the criminals or the scoundrels, or those who prey on the sheep. Dogs protect and LEAD the sheep. I get that the album had to be dark, but the album would still be dark if they made a song about Dogs being protectors, and just renamed the original song to be Wolves, as wolves are truly the ones who hunt the sheep. One of the many purposes of shephard and guard dogs is to protect sheep from wolves. Dogs is still the best song on the album and one of the best i've ever heard. anyways, im done with this pointless rant lmfaoo

is it just me or is richard wright a bit taller than it says on the internet? it says he's a bit shorter than David Gilmour but i've seen several pictures of the two standing next to eachother and Richard is almost always the same height, if not, taller. Sometimes he's even near the height of Roger Waters, who's like 6'2" or 6'3".

Your story about how you found The Wall and the prelude to it is heartbreaking. While you're transgender and I'm straight, we are unified in our isolation and hatred for society and ourselves. Thank you for telling me this, and remember, "All alone or in twos, the ones who really love you. Walk up and down outside the wall."

I doubt you’ll see this but I need to post it anyways just to say thanks. Because our stories are oddly extremely close to one another I too am transfem, and after my own mental breakdown, The Wall saved me. And it too is my favorite Floyd album for that reason. The isolation, mental torture, and anger all spoke to my mindset at the time (minus the fascism part lol). And it’s wild to see someone who went through almost exactly what I did and connect with the exact same album. It’s oddly validating. So thank you so much for

For Pink Floyd, I think most people’s rankings greatly depend on how much you enjoy Gilmour’s style vs Water’s. That’s why, for me, DSOTM will always be their best album (if not the greatest ever) because it’s the perfect mix of both styles, but I love seeing different people giving different perspectives on my favorite band. I also love the appreciation that Animals and Atom Heart Mother both have started to get in recent years, I’ve always felt like they’ve been overshadowed by the other great Pink Floyd albums.
