my 328i is sitting at 163k miles, got it at 60k. We have had our ups and downs, but it was never anything I couldn't handle fix, two valve covers and one oil pan later, she is still kicking

This dude: *buys car that’s known for spinning rod bearings and countless other things breaking* First thought: THIS IS CARMAX FAULT!! 😭😭😭 Also whenever you have aftermarket warranties they don’t pay for tear down until there is confirmation of failure. So with your rod bearings they were going to pay for it from the get, but you have to say I approve whatever tear down is needed to confirm the cause of failure. They also don’t pay for wear items like crutches and brakes. Some will actually pay for brakes if the brake wear sensor is “broken.”

NEVER EVER EVER EVER take a BMW ///M Car to the stealership for any repairs. In SoCal EAS and AutoTalent Indie Shops have vast experience with BMW ///M cars. Since you have a notorious 2008 E90 M3 (first year), sell it ASAP. Only get a 2011-2013 BMW E9X M3 Competition Package car with less than 60k miles. Almost all German Sports cars have a major flaw that will cost anywhere from $3000 - $25,000 to fix. These cars are not daily drivers. They are toys for the weekend. Get a beater for work as your daily driver. They are like a Mistress $$$$$$.

Important to consider tires and the surface they are on. Put the M on a prepped surface and it would be much faster

Done about 70 track days now. Don't worry at all about spinning in the beginning. So many drivers go to their first track day, leave all the assists on and grippy tires. The car drives them instead of the other way around. It's about learning, not setting the best times. Try to find some local autocross/drift days and get comfortable sliding the car and regaining control. It's probably the most addicting hobby you can take on. Have fun!

They did upgrade it for 2021 they dyno at 388 to the wheels now

The M3 is a beast but very impractical for the avg joe...it is a gas hog and problematic like a 335i...if you spend some good money on the 328i, you'll have a reliable car with a good balance of power and handling.

Looking to get my e92 in the coming weeks and I’ve been trying to find a video that perfectly shows me a good point of reference for its speed. Coming from a lot of corvettes, mustangs, etc, I wanted to see what the difference was. I’ve driven a Supra so this was a perfect video for it and just phenomenally done to highlight both cars.

Seems like the only difference is you says it's a four-cylinder V8 can you compare it to a different BMW then can you compare it to a 2013 BMW 328i 4 cylinder twin turbo m4 package

Seems like this car was horribly abused by the previous owner. Clutch should last 100-150k on these, and the rod bearings should be good for 80-100k miles if warmed up properly. What a mess. Glad that you got it sorted!
