A truly precious mid-20s styled tune and arrangement, amazingly played and sung by Lou Gold and Scrappy Lambert. Hats off, this was brilliant in every possible way. I am thrilled by the superb refrain by one of my favorite singers :-) The peppy, energetic but elegant instrumentation was so great too, I loved it. Thank you so much for sharing yet another gem!

Adore this twenties foxtrot so much! Have for years! Even with its long and involved verse part, its refrain is insane! Just wonderful chord construction by the sensational song writing team Turk & Ahlert, who would go on to write the big 1929 hit, "Mean To Me". That was Babe Blake's one hit wonder that can be seen (with these song writers at 2reeler, in their only on screen appearance) Love this superb arrangement with the beautiful sax section (that lead sax almost weeps! Listen to that lovely tone!) Lou Golds band turns in a perfect performance!! Such smart syncopation and by today's standards a gay lament with that male vocal. To make it a "straight" vocal, just substitute the female name "Fran" in place of "man." Swap out "him" for "her." All done! 😋 Thanks so much for sharing another classic twenties tune and saving another GREAT from obscurity! Your clean up on it sounds grand, Scrappy sounds grand and I love that they threw in a Vo-do-de-o. at 2:16. !!

I think except for Victor and Brunswick, female vocalists were not easy to come by for vocal refrains.

Because the name PARAMOUNT was registered snd in ise by a furniture company owned record company, when Paramont entered record industry in 1928 or so the had to brand it as PUBLIX. (Also as PEAK) If you look closly they WERE able to say it was a Paramont Pictures product, and use their logo, as the other company used a EAGLE & GLOBE design somthing like the Marine Corps emblem. Both firms left record business in depression. With ABC TV/radio Paramount reentered record business around 1955, as ABC/PARAMONT for almost 20 years but most production wasnt using eather name on label
