Alas, thy decided to omit the line when Legolas recognizes independent of Gandalf exactly what the ominous peril is: "'Ai! Ai!' wailed Legolas. 'A balrog! A balrog is come!'" One of my favorite lines in all the LOTR. As a related aside, it's always worth remembering that it was an elf--mighty Ecthelion of Gondolin--who slew Gothmog, Lord of Balrogs. Think about that! 💪

Maybe a Tolkien fan can make it make sense, but since Orcs, Goblins and such followed Balrogs into battle during the times of Morgoth, why would they flee from a Balrog making its presence known

3:10 “YOU SHALL NOT PASS!!!” The emotion in these 4 words. Such an iconic and powerful moment. He knows he isn’t as powerful as the Balrog (close to but not just there) but he still stands against his flaming foe, and sacrifices himself for the Fellowship. This is why Gandalf Is one of my favorites
