Plus protect my skin from the Florida sun. Started on Zwift in Decf 2023 , 289 rides later , 48 days t got my Tron bike , and my cycling for my Duathlons is alot strong and faster . And when I started riding indoors in 1987 it was because my 1st friend was hit and killed . Used Cateye CS-1000 . LOL, used it till Dec when I got a Garmin Smart trainer, now I have 40 in TV with Apple TV and now I have done 19 races. I love it , do not miss riding outside . I have 5 Duathlons planned done 2 already , my cycling is so strong and fast at age 67 . In 1996 here in Clermont FL is a beautiful road that had 6 homes , now in 2024 3000+ homes , yet same narrow 2 lane road double yellow no passing lanes. All of the forrest cut down for homes feet apart. So bottom line I do have a bike trail zero cars , will drive to it for a race simulation ride 1-2 times per month . Wish Zwift was around in 1987

I was so happy when Zwift announced the player highlight. Now I think it has been highly exaggerated, everyone is highlighted for no important reason at any time. I would have like MY RIDER to remain highlighted and NO OTHERS. Thumbs up was enough for me, no need to highlight everyone. I can spot teal color highlighted players better than my own white one. All this makes no sense to me as I still have trouble finding myself in a 200 rider group as many of them are highlighted better than me. There should be an option to turn off all the other highlights that are not your own.

Your not missing anything. I think Ride On Bombs encourage the riders around you to keep working together. At one time, only Yellow Beacons could use Ride On Bombs. It seemed to me that encouraged riders to stay close to the Yellow Beacon. Now, all of us can use the Ride On Bomb. The only exception that I've come across is during Meet Ups when the Ride On Bomb does not seem to be available.

Your observation is consistent with the commonly accepted "rule of thumb" that equates 1h on a trainer to 1.5h riding outdoors. No intersection interruptions, etc. Now that only applies if we don't take Coffee Stops. 😊

I am okay riding on the roads with cars, though the incredibly rapid expansion of subdivsions in once quaint towns is rendering some once quiet rural roads into high traffic boulevard. Rails trails are ideal but there can be a lot of walkers at time. I really like gravel roads. Very little traffic and great countryside.

Spring and summer incoming 👍 Hope flowers and trees are blooming soon. Nature can be beautiful 🌳 You always use SPD/MTB pedal/shoes?
@endurancesweat7 ай бұрын
I have both Shimano SPD and SPD-SL pedals. I use the SPD pedals for gravel rides and long distance audax rides when they'll be time off the bike walking into cafes, restaurants, etc. I use SPD pedals for dedicated roads rides and on the bike on my trainer. I prefer SPD pedals. They are more versatile, easier to clip-in, and the cleats on cycling shoes almost never need replacing.
@the_fatshark7 ай бұрын
@@endurancesweat yeah spd is more versatile and easier to walk on. So ideal for long rides when you also go for a bit of a walk into a cafe etc. That walking destroys the SL clips. But Spd-sl feels more clipped in and snugged in.

You’ve got me now looking at workouts after following your last series of streaming Ken, I’ve just done the Group Ride Cryo-Gen Power Tuesday Interval Group Ride plenty of people commenting how hard it was and it was certainly tough with virtually no rest intervals 🥵. I’ve also done a few longer distance rides plus the 100 mile ride with BMTR on Zwift but l only just completed the ride as my iPhone was saying only 10 % battery remaining even though it was plugged in !. Do you know if I could have switched phones with the Zwift app already on it and continued the ride ? or am l asking the impossible 😂. Great Inspiration Ken, Thanks 🚴👍
@endurancesweat7 ай бұрын
Answering your question: Unfortunately, you could not have switched devices. If your iPhone battery had died, I believe (not certain) that Zwift would have save the part of the ride that you were able to complete. The Zwift app consumes a lot of power so it is not entirely a surprise that the battery was draining even though the phone was plugged into a power supply. Best you can do is fully charge the phone and perhaps turn down the screen brightness.
@endurancesweat7 ай бұрын
I also had to reflect on which Workout Plan to follow next after Fitness Jumpstart. There are so many options on Zwift but most plans have 4-5 workouts each week and are 8-12 weeks long. I have an event coming up at the end of April, so most of the Zwift plans were too long for me. Most of all, I wanted a plan with only a couple of (challenging) workouts each week. That allows me to do longer endurance rides outdoors and other group rides on Zwift. In the end, I am following a plan on Trainer Road. (I have used TR since 2015.)

Thanks Ken, you’ve answered my question and come up with a good idea of turning down the brightness on my phone to give more life to the battery I will try that on my next one. I’ve just realised that I have always connected my phone using cables to a T.V screen so if I turn down the brightness on my phone but increase it on the T.V screen it will gain more life out of the battery, that’s if I’m right, l hope. This mini map is almost useless, the biggest gripe I have with it is the same you talked about, I never know which way its going and it is frustrating. The other thing, which has nothing to so with the mini map, is when other cyclists are passing me even though I can see on their screen they are doing less power than me, sometimes the difference is almost 100 watts. How the hell can they be overtaking?
@endurancesweat7 ай бұрын
Most everyone feels the same way that you do about the MiniMap. About other riders passing you, just keep in mind that it is the "power to weight ratio" (W/kg) and not simply "power" (W) that determines how fast you go on Zwift. For example, an 80kg rider putting out 200W is at 2.5W/kg. A 55kg (120lbs) rider doing 165W is at 3.0W/kg. So even though 165W is less than 200W, the 55kg rider will go faster than the 80kg rider. I'm not sure that explains it entirely, but maybe it's a start.
