First of all I really want to appreciate your effort to make this tutorial. I have viewed the full tutorial video and found some concerns regarding the calculation of stiffnesses (Axial and Bending) and sequence adopted in construction stages. As we are simulating the circular shape piles using a rectangular plate element, the total inertia of one row of piles (6 nos) shall be equated with plate inertial formula (bh3/12).and an equivalent h will be calculated. Using this calculated h value, plate area (1xh) shall be determined. Axial and bending stiffnesses are calculated accordingly. Embedded beam will capture axial load analysis of raft-pile system in a better way than the plate element.

Thank you very much for taking the time to watch our tutorial video and for sharing your insightful comments. I truly appreciate your engagement and input. You've raised valid points regarding the calculation of stiffnesses and the sequence adopted in construction stages, especially in simulating circular shape piles using rectangular plate elements. Utilizing an embedded beam for axial load analysis of the raft-pile system or employing Plaxis 3D for more realistic analysis indeed offers a more accurate representation. My intention with this tutorial was to provide a foundational understanding of the plain strain model approach and modeling in Plaxis 2D. As mentioned in the video, the presented results may overestimate settlement and may not be entirely reliable for complex scenarios. Your feedback is invaluable, and we'll certainly consider incorporating discussions on embedded beams and Plaxis 3D in future tutorials to provide a comprehensive understanding of geotechnical analysis methodologies.
