Lesson 51. Foundation on Soft Clay Reinforced with Geogrid-Encased Stone Columns Using PLAXIS 3D

In this lesson, the simulation of a shallow foundation on soft clay reinforced with geogrid-encased stone columns is explored using PLAXIS 3D. The setup of the model, application of boundary conditions, and interpretation of results are demonstrated. Interfaces were defined between the geogrids and stone columns, and between the geogrids and surrounding soil. The effect of geogrids as encasements is explored, showing how they effectively decrease and improve the settlement of the foundation.
