Great video! Sorry if someone has already asked this question, but you mentioned it cost 70 on Amazon. What did that include? I I orded the book which was 30, what else would you recommend? With this approach did you feel confident talking in German?
@jenniferc232 ай бұрын
Hello Aimee, I received the book and all of the audio files which I put on my phone and used once a day. I did feel confident but I was also learning with a teacher at the time and going to groups, PLUS had done it 10 years before at school so had some foundations down. It wasn't a newbie approach but it 100% lifted my level and enjoyment, although it took a lot of graft!

You brought so much life to this Sharon character 😂 I love the little mannerisms you gave her, such as being confused with Larry/Gary's name, and even trying to include Sheila and her slightly undercooked cakes 😂 even the bit with her trying to think of the right phrase around 1:45, that was great She just sounds like a sweet old Northern lady~ Incredible job, miss! Sehr gut gemacht Jen!

Hey, thank you for responding to our questions in the comments!! I have a question please, I'm reading a lesson everyday, but I don't feel I'm quite learning... yes I know a bunch of words now, and if I read the past 5 lessons I can understand what the text is saying... but as I said I don't really feel I'm learning, is that a normal feeling?? Oh, and is reading enough??? I mean do I need to do analysis on every word I see in the text; "what it's meaning, or what does this correlative do and why is it here" and so on and so forth.. I really appreciate your help!! thanks!🙏🙏🙏

I speak several languages for various reasons and I always keep learning new ones while refreshing the ones I already know (this year I am learning Italian and refreshing my German). I always liked a combination of: - Pimsleur (just Vol. I) 1 month, then Assimil, - 1-2 KZbin Channels with Teachers you like (after lesson 40-50 of Assimil) - Tandem or HelloTalk language exchange Apps, - 1 hour a week online Teacher (after lesson 60-70 of Assimil) - Podcasts at a later stage. That is all, no need to spend too much money or get crazy with many tools or books. KEY: everyday 30-45 mins minimum, have the audios available in your mobile to listen to them hundreds of time while ironing, cooking, walking, commuting, etc. Do NOT scape more than 1 day a week. At the beginning, essential is to get the phonetics right using IPA phonetic transcriptions as guidance and having available a native speaker (of your target language + accent) to help you correct / improve the sounds. As an example students should make an effort to be able to pronounce the word brother as /ˈbrʌðər/ and not /ˈbrʌdər/ or in Spanish dedo (finger) /ˈdeðo/ and not /ˈdedo/. Forget Duolingo, Babbel and any other similar App method as it is too slow.
