I also had the same reaction as you were. Speechless for too beautiful voices brought by two ladies. Their minds also will definitely be transmitted to YUI-METAL who left the band for her illness.
It is mainly an in Joke with this Exception. Normaly this isctheir Opening Song but in this concert they had a huge problem. The heavy music Club was more or less in existance while Amuse was not interestedvin it. But one of their best Handlers for the girls had his own Ideas and he had proven that his ideas could work. But now Suzuka became to old for Sakura Gakuin and he wanted to leave with Suzuka and Babymetal. Amuse was ready to support this subgroup since they earned good money. But Suzuka had to leave Sakura Gakuin and in this process they terminated her idol contract. And this was a bit shocking for a 15 year old girl. Koba didn't care about her idol contract, he eanted her as the main singer of Babymetal. So he decided, I let Amuse pay for this. So he had enough Money for the Metallica and X-Japan references, and he made it absoluter clear for her that this was her destiny. And it was a dream for groups like kiss or ACDC. Crucify a 16 year old, while in reality she had a limited understanding what this meant. As most japanese Su had a rather careful distance to religious topics. If too many people follows a Religion people die. In fact Even Kobas references to a FoxGod, get only rwplies from her that this God obviously only speaks to Koba directly.

As others have pointed out this is a compilation but one of the better ones out there and your guest needs to learn to feel the music and not think about it too much then he will not need to understand Japanese,this is why the girls have a world wide following they break through the language barrier. In fact they inspired me to start learning Japanese and i plan on visiting Japan in the near future where of course i hope to see them live again as Su`s stage charisma has to be seen and felt to be believed lol 🦊

Gotta say, I feel I need to almost challenge you guys on the statement where you feel Su should branch out and try different genres. They already DO that. I don't think you can name any other band that has songs sound so different from one another. Some examples. Akatsuki Unfinished, No Rain No Rainbow, Shanti Shanti Shanti, BxMxC, From Dusk Till Dawn, Light and Darkness, Night Night Burn, The One. I could probably name several others like Oh Majinai, Meta Taro, etc as well which are quite different from your standard metal. Point is, the VERY thing you say you wish Babymetal did is part of what already sets them apart from other bands already! No 2 songs sound alike. They LOVE playing with different genres and mixing that genre into their music. Look at Headbanger. How many different version are there of that song alone? You've got the standard version, you have the Yui version, Moa version, Momo version, and you have the EDM version. In terms of (sorry forgot his name as I am horrible with remembering names) your guest stating he's scared the Babymetal community are going to come after him for saying he prefers the first take version of Monochrome, he doesn't need to worry. We're a good community for the most part with the vast minority being bad apples who I think just pretend to be fans to make us look bad. As long as you're respectful of the girls and the band, you'll be ok, even if you criticize them. Just criticize them in a polite and respectful manner as many of us look at these ladies as our younger sisters kind of, having watched them grow up from little 12 year olds doing this to what they've become now. You can't HELP but feel a sense of pride and protectionism over these young ladies when you get to watch that happen.

This kid in the glasses is clueless. First he says that Monochrome is 'Nothing special '. Then he says that he wants to hear BabyMetal do different genres. WTF? Everything you just said is stupid, and you make people more stupid for reading it. First of all, "Babymetal" isn't a "genre itself", it's a group. The genre is called kawaii metal. If you don't even know that, are you even a fan, bro? Second, he never said he hated them, he's saying it's still not his type of music, but he has to hear more to decide. He said this IN THE VIDEO, and if you didn't watch the whole thing to hear that, then that's on you. Third, there are more genres than just metal subgenres, and if you'd listened, you'd have heard him specify the genres he meant. Fourth, I'm the one making him listen to it, he's doing this as a favor to me. If you can't be civil, stay away from my videos.

Good idea to do both versions; you could have even done the lyric video at the end as well. Su will definitely have some say in things. I once read in an interview that Su passed on many good songs because she thought she wasn't ready for them or couldn't do justice to them from day one. Some of them ended up on later albums (like believing), but some will have never been released. Which means she shaped the songs and albums that we have. A more unscrupulous producer would try to force her to sing the songs he wanted on the album, but Koba was OK with it. (and probably scared of being on the recieving end of a death stare at close quarters) Babymetal are owned by a corporate machine, but they aren't controlled by it on an artistic level. Only Koba, the songwriters, session musicians, engineers, and Su, Moa, and Momo are responsible for Babymetal's albums. A label is a label (I think they have their own label anyway), and Amuse are managers/agents who partly own the copyright, as many reactors know too well LOL

The emotional impact Su’s voice has on me is almost frightening. I‘m somewhat addicted, I have hardly listened to any other band for the last few years. But just a few minutes ago, I watched a reaction video to another band (Dream Theater). When I got to your video a few minutes later, her first few notes immediately made me cry. Those few minutes of „diversion“ were enough to almost feel like I missed her voice. Strange experience. It’s not just the good songwriting or Su‘s emotional presentation, the pure sonic sensation of her voice is touching me deeply.

I've to say that here the lyrics are really relevant, indeed this was the first time they released a lyrics video with English captions. The meaning is disputed, but the original MV hints to war, bombardments and even the Hiroshima bombing. It's most likely a song about the strenght of hope in time of despairing. "Ragunaroku no tasogare ni Bokura wa nani o mi teru Nagai nagai yoru datte Yagate asa wa kuru kara" "During the dusk of Ragnarok What are we to see No matter how long the night The morning will arrive" 🤘🦊⚡️
@Surety-624 ай бұрын
All songs are open to interpretation and yours is as good as any. The big thing that counts against that theory though is that I’d not expect a song about a nuclear bomb to end with with “just smile”. Also Su has said that when she first read the lyrics she thought it a typically uplifting BABYMETAL song and was surprised by fans initial reaction to it.
@DeePal0724 ай бұрын
@@Surety-62 I know what she said, but SU is ... SU 😅. I don't think the song is specifically about the Hiroshima event at all, indeed the bomb was dropped in the early morning, the song is set during many nights.. No doubt it involves a catastrophic event, as it's literally in the description of the idea behind that "world". Still, the lyrics video has many hints to nuclear weapons and even specifically Hiroshima. The monochrome firework itself, the black rain, the world atmosphere burning, the only tree surviving among many burned down ones, the Hibakujumoku. The umbrellas falling from the sky should indeed be seen as a tangible sign of hope as they provide a shield against that nefarious rain. So? As I said, I think the meaning is that even in the darkest hours, truly the darkest, if you can still kindle hope in yourself, you're going to have the strength to build a new world, a new beginning especially for the children. Thus the final smile. I suspect that Miki Watanabe was inspired by a quite successful anime: Kono sekai no katasumi ni, especially one scene, the one with, yes, the monochrome firework. 🤘🏻🦊⚡

Good job, the live at PIA Arena would have been better than the compilation (it has subtitles too), but that isn't a bad compilation at least and it did capture some of the PIA footage including Su calling Moa and Momo across to her (I'm not sure all the audio apart from that little bit was from the one show though). Unlike pop groups where the lead singer stays at the front and anybody dancing is behind and the dancing is just for decoration with no meaning to it, Su is most often behind Moa and Momoko and their choreo really is interpretive in most songs - so yes it is very much related to the meaning of the song or of a lyric and/or it is the bridge between the stage and the audience aimed at getting everybody involved. Did you turn on the closed captions for the piano version? You were both talking about whether the lyrics might be more impactful as neither of you speak Japanese ... and this song is particularly deep and meaningful with the reference to Ragnarok, the monochrome firework and especially the progression from trying to imagine a colour in the night sky, painting the night sky in rainbow colours and finally illuminating the world in rainbow colours. Both versions are how the song should be performed, they are equally beautiful in their own way ... but the full version with the Kami Band's instrumentals and the choreo is the original and is how it was written to be performed (just as 'Akatsuki' has the 'unfinished' version, the original is the full version). However, yes I also believe Su-metal can sing pretty much any and every style and she will make each one of those styles that she sings better - and you are right, she is incredibly charismatic. You've seen them live, you know that when they walk on stage you just can't look away, they all, but especially Su, have such a powerful presence. Concerning your discussion at the end, fortunately (against popular belief) not all metal has to have growls and screamo. In my own opinion that is best kept to a minimum and should only be used when there is real context or good reason. Also fortunately Su doesn't do screamo to risk damaging her beautiful voice and she has had vocal coaches since she was a child.

Here Su-Metal sings "hatachi no yoru", as you said; it means «the night of my 20th (years old)», and in the studio & normal version she sings "ichi-go no yoru" (the night of my 1-5). By the time this concert was perform, it was the night before Momo-Metal turns 21 yo, so it was the very last chance to sign the "hatachi" version. PS: that compilation video is so bad, it should be erased from all streaming platforms so we ensure no one will watch it again.

Good job, again, thanks! Yeah, I've seen a few reactors getting mad at this. In Japan, Christianism represents less than 2% of the population so, all the religious iconography used here is just there because it looks cool.Also, the whole concert has a theme based on "Evangelion" (with Su singing "Tamashii no rufuran", etc.). The thing is that the statue is actually Mary. They opened the show with a theatrical performance to "Ellens dritter Gesang" ("Ellen's Third Song") best know by Schubert's "Ave Maria" where Yui and Moa they offered their neckbraces to the statue. 🤘🦊

Damn. Mr. Chilli knows his Babymetal lore. I'm impressed. BMD is usually the show opener, but on this occasion it was the closer. This performance marks the moment of her apotheosis as the idol Suzuka dies and the metal goddess Su-metal is born. This concert took place shortly after Babymetal formally separated from Sakura Gakuin following Suzuka's graduation, so this performance was symbolizing Babymetal breaking away from their idol roots and fully embracing metal.
