May I ask, so basically what we do is just correct it because in his dna he must have protected our livestock, or we still need to train him like other dogs?

My Anatolian male was raised with goats on a working goat farm, we put him with the goats we got from that farm at the same time we got him, around 12 weeks old, he is now 8 months old and will not stay with his goats, he only wants to be at the house with my 2 year old German Shepherd, also male, who is our yard dog. I’m afraid I let him stay at the house too long now…they have starting to develop some bad roaming habits, Shadow used to never leave our yard, now he roams further and further with Andi. Do you have any suggestions on how to train him to stay with his goats when his best friend is supposed to stay at the house??

Bells is what most Germans miss on Christmas Eve, along with candles glowing in the snow they placed on the graves of their loved ones. In short: Holy Night, honoring Christs birth, not some fat guy from the North Pole.

It might not be the only way but it is the best way. My meat goat farm is in N. central FL and we battle coyotes fairly often. I used to have donkeys for livestock guardians and they absolutely will kill coyotes quickly and without mercy. Even after they've killed them, either from biting or kicking they will stomp them flat like roadkill. I had three huge problems with donkeys. Each one would eat as much as 10-12 goats, they are destructive to fences/pastures and their protection method is to wait until the threat happens. That last one was my biggest issue. This is not an issue with dogs, like you said, they immediately go to the threat and do not allow that threat to enter the perimeter. Hondo, my best donkey would always kill the coyote but I would end up with a severely injured goat. I had to have the vet amputate the rear leg of one of my best does several years ago because of an attack. She produced 8 more kids over 4 seasons as a three legged mama before she died of old age. When Honda died at 27 three years ago. I decided to replace him with a Great Pyrenees. I highly recommend if you can find one, to buy from a breeder that has a farm (most do). She was 7 months old, raised with goats and chickens and according to the breeder really only trained by the adult GP's on her farm in south FL. I brought her home, put her on a leash and walked the boarder fence slowly, brought her back to the pasture with the 30-40 goats and made introductions while on-leash. Cut her loose and within two days you would have thought she was raised on our farm. These are amazing dogs. Within a couple of weeks I could open the gate that separates the main pasture and the 3 acre yard and call her from the yard and she would sit and refuse to leave that pasture. The first time I took her to the vet I had to drag her out of that pasture. So now, vet trips require me to drive into the pasture, load her in the truck then drive out. I have so many stories of amazing things I witnessed since I starting using GP's. I now have two and hopefully adopting a 6 year old female that just retired with it's owner from a farm in kentucky and moved to FL and apparently is going crazy since she moved into a city with no animals to protect and living in a house...breaks my heart. I hate to see people try to make pets out of these naturally nocturnal, weather proof, beast-mode protectors of the livestock.

0:31 is the typical Anatolian/Kangal behavior. Stands still like a good doggo but the eyes move rapidly, you can see this breed constantly thinking and observing, yet in overall body movement they are very calm.

How do you pressure can this? Could you just heat your jars and lids and add hot oil. That should seal it i believe! I do this type of sealing with okra but the water has salt and vinegar added. All the jars have sealed so far.

Maybe pine needle is only deworming when it's whole, as a pointy jaggy needle? Or is it deworming even as a liquid. I personally am trying to deworm myself. What herbs do you recommend?

I use a wire brush to scrub the spots where the concrete is stained from the birds. I’ve also used kitty litter, and scrub it on the spots with my shoe until it’s gone. Works for oil stains too.

What about soaking the needles & boiling & using to clean. We have a very big pine tree in our backyard. That drops needles & cones frequently. I’m just leery about making a tea and ingesting it.

Great video! Thank you for it, it helped me make up my mind to see which company by the flag pole from and how to put it together. Today I finished setting it up and put the flags up (USA flag and USMC flag) and it is looking good!! Nice to see how you and your son work together on this as well. Thanks again! 😊

Anatolian Shepherd's are beautiful and athletic dogs. There are a few differences between them and Kangals though. Kangals are typically a little taller and their bodies are a bit shorter in length, making them more stalky and heavy. Kangals also have a curly tail like Husky's, and their heads are more thick and wolflike, and their eyes are darker than Anatolian's for the most part. Similar muzzle but the black muzzle is more pronounced on the Kangals and the eyes have more pronounced black. The fur is also different. Both are incredible dogs. I've been around both dogs and the Kangals are quite a bit heavier bodied (Not necessarily the weight, their bones look much heavier). I've seen Anatolian males around 110lb-130lbs (Lighter seems to be great for chasing coyotes), females around 90lbs-110lbs (Lean bodies). Male Kangals I have seen are around 150lbs-190lbs (Looking lean but are just so tall, almost as tall as a Great Dane or Wolfhound) and females are around 110lbs-140lbs (assuming they are not overweight).

Can you go into more detail why you prefer the Anatolian Shepherd versus the Great Pyrenees? I just rescued two Great Pyrenees puppies and Im blown away at their natural tendency to guard my animals. No coyotes on my property anymore. But Im intrigued that you prefer Anatolian Shepherd, Im really curious to hear why.

Darn it!! So that’s what we did wrong 🤦🏼‍♀️ we had enough jars to grow an orchard and produced nothing. The key was the freezer.
