Pastor David has been such a blessing in my life and so many more. I don’t know anyone like him. What a true man of God. I miss him but have probably listened to almost all of his sermons more than once.

Not only that, but it needs to be done in the name of the Lord Jesus, or something similar. It amazes me how people will take one verse out of the great commission in Matthew and completely ignore Mark 16:16, Luke 24:47 and John 20:31 and the fact that throughout the book of ACT,S, the apostles Both baptized and taught baptism in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, because that’s who we identified with. The father did not die, was not buried, and did not rise from the dead. The Holy Spirit did not die, was not buried, and did not raise from the dead, but when we are baptized “into Christ Jesus “, we are identifying with the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, and that is why we must use his name. Repeating the titles and the expressions of father, son, and Holy Ghost does not the name make. Consider Ephesians 3:14, and James 2:7.

They’re the brother at the beginning. Starts putting that picture stuff in baptism. Lol it’s a picture of identification with Christ. Why can’t people just read scriptures like acts 2:38 and Romans six versus 3:6, Galatians, three versus 26:27 and Colossians, two versus 11:12 and just believe what it says, why can’t baptism be a work of God within us? Why can’t it be supernatural? Why all of this symbolic stuff in this picture stuff? I believe it is actual and effectual when ministered to one who is repentant and believing. There are a lot of things about salvation that gives it a lot of components, but clearly in someway baptism saves because Peter said so. We need to just accept that and know that it is part of our foundation and stop dancing around these verses.

Why would Jesus and the apostles command something that is a mirror symbol that doesn’t mean anything? I believe it is an absolute means of grace, and I was raised with a symbolic view, but you never find the symbolic view when you read the scriptures, which are actually on the subject of baptism. It seems to me that baptism in Jesus name in the new covenant is to what circumcision was in the old covenant. Anyone who says they have repented and believed, and refuses baptism may be saying they don’t believe and are refusing to enter into the covenant and to me that is dangerous anyway, you slice it.

Listen, People, we cannot deny what the scripture says. I have a view on this that is nuanced. I believe that when we repent and place our trust in Jesus Christ, we are justified or declared righteous before God, but here is where people miss it. There is more to salvation than justification. Salvation consists of things, such as repentance, conversion, faith, justification, regeneration, union, with Christ, sanctification, and glorification not necessarily in that order. Salvation is not just about going to heaven when you die either. The scriptures teach that when we baptize in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ That it has a role in Sal ation, Mark 16:16, one Peter, three versus 20:21 by giving us a clean conscience toward God. It remits/washes us from our sin and cleanliness as we respond in repentant faith and obedient in baptism, 2:38, 22:16, Ephesians 5:26, one Corinthians 6:11, Titus 3:5, Hebrews 10:22. It brings us into kingdom realities, John 3:5, act eight versus 12:16. It brings us into the discipleship, Matthew 28:19. it is being buried with Jesus Christ and burying the old man, Romans six verse 3:6, Colossians, two versus 11:12. It is responding to him and Faith and putting on Christ, Galatians three versus 26:27. It gives us a clean conscience toward God as we pledge our loyalty to the Lord Jesus Christ, God manifested in flesh, one Timothy 3:16, one Peter, three, versus 20:21. Baptism demonstrates our faith, James, two versus 14:26, compare that with Romans, four versus 10:11. It is a sign and a seal of our faith in Jesus Christ, Romans, four versus 10:11, Colossians, two versus 11 and 12. It is new covenant, circumcision, see the previous two scriptures given. Also, an apostolic times and up until the first couple of centuries, baptism was administered in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, or something, similar, using the name of Jesus Because the father, son and Holy Spirit are all in one name Matthew 28:19. It is a singular solitary name, and we can see this playing out in the book of acts 2:38, eight versus 12:16, 10:48, 19 versus one: 522:16. The apostles did not disobey the command of the master. If they understood his command that way, so should we. We also see this didactically in the epistles in Romans six versus 3:6 one Corinthians one versus 12:15, 6:11, 10 versus one and two, Galatians 3:27 Ephesians 4:5, Colossians, two versus 11:12, James 2:7, one Peter, three, versus 20:21. Whatever we do in word or deed, we are to do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, so baptism is a lot more important than just demonstrating our faith or something that is just symbolic or like a wedding ring or whatever analogies that so many evangelicals come up with. Baptism is not a work of righteousness, it is a response to our faith in Jesus Christ. it is putting feet to our faith. In genesis 15:6, Abraham believed God and was counted righteous and the same as true for every new covenant believer, Romans, four versus 23:25, five versus one: three, but if we failed to demonstrate our faith, when the word is given to us concerning baptism, and following our conscience, it could demonstrate that we have no saving faith, or that we are drifting away from our faith in the gospel. Whether anyone likes it or not, Jesus said that he who believes and his baptized shall be saved, but he who does not believe will be condemned. So I grant that not all unbaptized people will be lost if they do not have the knowledge/understanding or whatever the case may be. There are exceptions, but if you refuse to enter into the new covenant by way of the scripture pattern, which is baptism in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, that is not a good thing. You can major on the one condition that he does not believe will be condemned, but he also said that he who believes and… Is… Baptized shall be saved so if you refuse to be baptized, then you don’t believe. salvation is a walk of faith, not merely a moment of faith, Romans one: 17. Of course, baptism doesn’t merit salvation, but Jesus and the apostles all saw it as part of the process of kingdom initiation, and it is part of our foundation, Hebrews six versus one: three. The full package consists of John, three versus 3:5 and act 2:38. Everyone needs to repent, be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost, and when that happens, you’ll speak in the language you have never learned, ACTS2:4, 10 versus 44:48, 19 versus 1:6, one Corinthians 6:11, Ephesians one: 13, 4:30, one John 3:29, 4:13, Titus 3:5, Romans 5:5. Sorry for the typos as I have no vision and I’m dictating this to Siri. Period. Let’s get the whole package and not just part of it.

Great explanation, loved it. The old fasting was asking for forgiveness and seeking the visitation of God to his people. New fasting is built on a blessed covenant where death has been conquered where the bridegroom has been revealed and has become a life giving spirit to all. In the new fast, we hunger for him, the lord we have already tasted of, and we eagerly expect him to reveal more of himself. As we eat of him and seek him the more homesick we get of the Lord we yearn to be united with!

While listening to this teaching a bit more understanding was 'revealed' to me regarding some pernicious superstition the Roman Catholics continue to perpetuate. When talking to people I know who follow this superstition they insist that at this time my searching for those things pertaining to the kingdom of heaven is due to my having been baptized as a baby in the RCC.
