Try shooting at least a 600 grain bolts or heavier.. Also, if your nock broke then something is not aligned properly, maybe your bolts are too narrow or too thick and don't fit well on the rail causing a misalignment.. Check how your bolts fit into your rails..
@vansantsam
@vansantsam 2 сағат бұрын
Part of the real problem is 210 lb limbs and 14 inch power stroke, and you probably are using light bolts to get the 425 fps velocity.. Better setups would be at least 15 inch power stroke and lighter limbs (175-185 lb draw weight), shoot heavy bolts so that the velocity is between 300-350 fps.. An even better way to go is 17-18 inch power stroke and 130-140 lb limbs with heavy bolts (still stay in the 300-350 fps).. Factories don't care if you blow your bows up using light bolts, they have made enough profit to send you a couple sets of limbs etc.. They also know that you will buy another one if it keeps blowing up.. Factories are not giving you reliable bows they are giving you what the less than knowledgeable people want,, Powerful limbs, light bows (6 lbs) and velocities over 400 fps, because people think that they need it.. I have 2 crossbows one 15 inch power stroke, 175 lb limbs and weighs 9 lbs, the other one (my hunting bow), 17+ inch power stroke, 135 lb limbs 10 lbs weight, both bows can shoot over 400 fps with light bolts, both bows shoot the same bolt at the same velocity,, I shoot very heavy bolts so that the velocity is 325-330 fps, can easily do a pass through on deer, moose, elk at 100 yards and further.. I limit my distance to 60 yards (that is just me).. All bolts shoot different, I number mine on the light vane #1, #2 etc. with a magic marker and using the same bolt I can shoot hole in hole at 60 yards and any distance closer,, I have notes on paper for bolt 2,3,4,5 etc such as "shoots 1/4 inch left at 60 yards or drops 1/8 inch at 60 yards, so I can make adjustments in the field using "Kentucky windage", or dial in a click or so, in the event that something renders #1 unusable.. To illustrate, a friend of a friend of mine shot a quartering deer at 40 yards, went in the front shoulder (cut through bone) traveled the entire length of the deer exited the rear hip (splitting the ball joint and hip), his bow shoots heavy arrows at around 310-315 fps.. If factories were honest they would also inform you that any arrow or bolt exceeding 400 fps exhibits instability characteristics, which makes them less accurate (unless you have 5 inch vanes and at least 150-175 grain tip).. Shooting 370-390 grain bolts is way too close to a dry fire, arrows in that weight rage are suited more for 60 lb compound bows and not crossbows, where the crossbows are only 40% efficient, with 60% of the energy does not go into the arrow/bolt but goes back into the bow in the form of shock, recoil etc which is why many experience mechanical failures.. A long power stroke means that the arrow/bolt is on the string longer absorbing more energy from the limbs which means faster velocity and more energy and momentum with less energy being directed back into the bow itself, which means less recoil and shock which aids in accuracy..

I absolutely agree with you. First of all, as a hunter you have to ask: What does 500 fps really do for you? The answer is nothing. If you're hunting in deep woods you're highly unlikely to have shots past 40 yards. My longest kill with my crossbow is 55 yards and that was at a deer standing still in an open field. I just don't think you can turn anything that shoots an arrow into a rifle. My crossbow is a 390 fps Barnett. I've killed a lot of deer with it. To me the biggest advantage with a crossbow is not having to move when I shoot. Just about all of my shots are within twenty yards or so. At 390 fps a deer doesn't have a chance.

First thing is you should be able to knock your arrow and drop it straight thru the top of the rest. Second, your draw is an inch or two too short. Third, you should be able to adjust your fletching by simply knocking the arrow and twisting the arrow to where you want it.. Also, if you shoot with your grip hand open, you will help prevent you from torturing the bow, causing you side to side off. And yes you could take two or three inches off them arrows.

That snub nose (is always being sold/showed as a "stabilizer", but it is in fact a vibration dampener. Dont care what any dumbass bowstore salesman is telling you. Look at the design of it. It cant stabilize anything that has teh weight of a compound, how is it supposed to with its puny weight.. Its a frigging bulimic "stabilizer" trying to fight a heavy weight boxer... Yea its not gonna win... and its too "wobbly"ish. Try and steer a canoe without the stabilizer in the bottom of the boat if its broken (bendy), try to enter a womans love cave if your.... is limb :P Its clearly meant for some kind of vibration (soft and bendy and rubberish). Dont understand how bowstores are still lying to ppl and relay the word "hodor its a stabilizer hodor!" You gotta get it! "Get that spreeead! You gon' hit e'rythang if you get that spreeead!" .... Wut? They are simply a waste of resources imho. Would have loved a better rest or a spare string instead, anything :D But they tring to make it look cool and they know ppl know "stabs" from OL in the 70's... So they thinking they gonna be Robin Hood and look like Rambo bc of that "stabilizer". Btw if you set the pins from the "other direction" (having all the pins in the bottom, and then using the top pin as the nearest target, and then pins below are further and further range. Then you get more range out of your sight (bc now you can use the lower parts of the window), and also better sight picture bc pins wont be "in the way". Imho, I would just yeet 3-4 of the pins, and use only one or two bc you're a hunter and a beginner compound archer. No need for the other pins disturbing your learning or your hunt down the road. And I also absolutely hate attachable bowquivers. They are ugly, make your bow heavier/more jittery'er (is that a word even?), and you have to always have it on when shooting (so whats the point of it being detachable?) or your arrows will lose their tune bc the quiver + arrows are literally affecting the tune. So you tune the bow with quiver AND full arrows in it. Soooo now you prob thinking.... what halfway through your hunt... You lost 3 of the arrows... Now the 4th arrow isnt gonna shoot the same way as number 1, 2 OR 3rd arrow. Its stupid/lazyness imho. And they make your intendedly designed short bow (short ATA, for hunt optimisation)... into a longer bow... potentially gripping more branches and stuff now... And countering the benefits of the design leaving you with only the disadvantages... And lastly I dont like how you can feel the weight now pulling the bow to the right on the vertical axis. Then you have to get a side stab on the other side and now you definitely gonna hit branches and scare away the deer.

@@fernfieldfarmsHomestead I see, my bad, didnt know how "new" you were, didnt mean to come off as know-it-all.. Just wanted to share the basic tips to improve the basic experience/usage. And yea quality wise, the bow, I have no complaints either. Ive shot an Sanlida Osprey (hunting recurve) for a long time and also tried out the dragon compound but a little bit later so mine is x8 but looks like the same bow, and im also hugely satisfied with that. Even compared to my more expensive bows. I mean cant beat that price. And I still havent found any flaws or had failures and im like maybe 5 years into the recurve and 2 years into the compound. And I shoot almost everyday, at least a few rounds in the morning before work and then when I get home, and if im not too tired then again in the evening, and most weekends, and Im (sort of) abusing em. Leaving them in freeze (inside but still freezing temps) leaving em in the same space in the horrible heat during summer.. shooting inside, outside, in the rain, in the snow, in the sun. Ofc I make sure stuff is dry/clean etc before storing em, but I dont worry about the temps. I havent "looked back" since I got my eyes on the chinese (proper chinese brands) archery stores. Buddy, those words are not unrelated, they go hand in hand. A vibration dampening device helps to stabilize an object. Think rubber engine mounts, or shock absorbers on a car. They reduce vibration helping to stabilize the ride of the car. Exactly the same with the bow, it stabilizes the bow AFTER the shot, not before. There are millions of these examples in industry. Why would a company write vibration dampener when they could just use the shorter word. Stabilizer?

Your not stupid. I had a lot of the same issues assembling my wrath 430x that you did with your amped 425. Essentially the same crossbow with wrath being an X cam type bow yours is more traditional. The issues i had with the instructions were that they contradicted the centerpoint video with assembly of the cable slide and which side of the cables to start it from. Also I found the 100gn field points they send on those bolts to be very light. They state in the instructions to limit your bolt weight to at least 400gns. I suspect this is why so many cross bows are splitting limbs and breaking strings and cables. 125 to 150 gn field point and broad heads work great for me. I also struggle with that cocking rope. Im not tall enough to pull it all the way up to lock back even though im 5' 9". Have to use the cocking crank.
