The first real computer i worked on was the Ferranti Argus 500 when i was in the RAF back in 1973. My first computer was the Sinclair ZX81 which took an hour to build and from there i went to the Spectrum then Commodore 64 right up to where i built and still build computers and repair them.
@VisionsOfHistory3 ай бұрын
I haven't heard of the Ferranti Argus 500! I remember the ZX81 but I started off with a 16K ZX Spectrum and then bought a 32K RAM pack to put into the back and I also had one of the small thermal printers that printed on silver/grey rolls of paper! Things have changed a lot since then. At least you have made a career out of it 😀

The commodore max was more of a simplified 64 than a simplified VIC 20
@VisionsOfHistory3 ай бұрын
Thanks for the clarification - I hadn't used a Commodore Max myself so I was relying on information from an online source. It would make more sense to base it on the more popular 64 rather than the Vic 20 :)

The Olympics really showcase the immense drive and dedication that people can have towards achieving their goals. It goes to show that with hard work and perseverance, anyone can overcome challenges and reach their full potential. It's a great reminder to keep pushing forward and never give up on your aspirations, no matter what life throws your way.

19 in 1979 I worked in a RadioShack repair center, huge warehouse, all the stores would send us the stereos, speakers, etc.., I think they'd just come out with a personal computer and I'd talk to the tech that fixed them, I remember saying to him, what good are these things,lol, I was never good at seeing the future. I’m struggling to find the words to describe how I feel about the atrocities of the holocaust. May we never forget and pray that this never, ever happens again. Thank you for taking the time to portray the horrific and inhumanly acts forced on the Jewish community. Let’s not take for granted our freedom, health and happiness.

In my family, women always worked outside the home. My grandmother was working on an assembly line by age 16. Her oldest daughter was a nurse and ran a 200 acre farm, with two toddlers, by 1940. My other aunts also worked full time jobs and raised kids. My mom did not because my dad asked her not to. Consequently, I was raised to believe I could have any job in the world if I wanted it. So I became a pastry chef and baker at a time when women didn’t do that. I could lift, carry, and work as much as the men I worked with, and I’m glad I did. My only regret is that I didn’t try to go into a better paying trade like welding. I love welding.
