@nerijusg233 I recorded a bunch of videos in my free time, then I was occupied with work for a while, forgot the settings, meanwhile OBS got an update, plus my speakers are dying after almost 12 years, so lots of trial and error to do. What compounds the issue is that the game background music becomes suppressed by itself when you zoom in, and I'm already at a point where I keep my speakers at 36 or 38 for 100. Anymore higher than that means severe discomfort to my ears. I have to juggle with OBS.

Well, this is what happens when you charge cavalry into pointy braced sticks from the front. Doesn't matter how elite the cavalry is.

I don't know what's the issue with the audio. Really weird. While recording, I am able to hear the audio through the speakers. But after the recording, there is hardly any game audio. It also doesn't help that the game music is low by default.

True. Naginata Samurai do better than Yari Samurai versus Katana Samurai. Only Katana Cavalry and Great Guard can slaughter Katana Samurai. Yari Cavalry get shredded by Katana Samurai. If your cavalry is engaged by spearmen or polearms, then get them the hell out of there. No question of who will win. It's the Yari Ashigaru or the Yari and Naginata Samurai skewering the cavalry.

I wouldn't say useless. They'll shred cavalry and are excellent arrow sponges. Useless would be more appropriate for Yari Samurai in the game. Historically speaking, spears were the main weapon of choice. Initially, bows and spears were used by the samurai during their early days. Naginata were used by the samurai women primarily. During the Genpei War, there was greater emphasis on skill due to the small numbers of troops involved. But by the Sengoku Jidai, increasing army sizes and increased reliance on Ashigaru meant reduction of emphasis on highly skilled troops. In the game, due to matched combat mechanics, it's akin to individual duels.

Both armour and melee attack help. Armour helps in melee combat and helps absorbing arrows. Melee attack improves the killing potential. You can build a Legendary Weaponsmith for +4 melee attack, and an Armoury through the Encampment building for +2 armour.

@@ShinobiRanger I mean, obviously the graphics on the individual soldiers is better in 3k, but in terms of collision, single combat etc, Shogun is way more real. You should try Thrones of Britannia battles, not a great game but the battles are the best looking imo

@@mariogaeta8911 That Saga Game. Yeah, no thanks. It's the same shield bashing like in Attila and Rome. While the sieges are good, and the attempt to emulate the period can be commended, the same sword board infantry shield bashing, with no death shrieks, is pointless.

@@ShinobiRanger fair enough, each to their own. For what you describe as shield bashing is much closer to actual combat than the silly, war hammer style battle that 3k went for. In both Rome2 and Attila the soldiers have individual matched combat within the shield walls which looks infinitely better than 3k. As far as death screams and blood go, I never got the impression that 3k was any better than other titles, in fact the blood and dismemberment looks ridiculous. So arcadey. For me 3k is brilliant for the QoL improvements in the campaign and the political and diplomatic side of the game. That’s where they improved it over other titles in my opinion. Just unfortunate that the battles look crap now as a pay off lol

@mariogaeta8911 Compared to 3 Kingdoms, at least in battle, Rome 2 and Attila are better. Campaign wise, 3 Kingdoms is much better. But what pissed me off was the fact that almost every melee infantry unit in Rome 2 has a precursor weapon. While I don't particularly hate shield bashing, I'd have been happier if the combat had some Med 2 or Rome 1 flavor.

The spears used by the Yari Samurai are shorter if you haven't noticed, unlike the Ashigaru who wield longer spears. The spears used by the Yari Samurai are intended for personal combat and not in formation fighting. You're right. The mechanic used in Shogun 2 is way better than the sorry excuses of games they've released recently.

eh, for people who are not as good at microing having one on each flank to rapid advance and catch cavalry flanks can be nice. But yeah if you're using pause or not worried about micro it's trash for its stats

Finally! You have figured it out. Yes, the flanks collapse, and the men have to shift positions to maintain the cohesion of the formation, but by then, it starts snowballing out of control.

@@ShinobiRanger when I do battle, I turn on guard mode and order the entire line to move behind the enemy position. They fight their way through the enemy formation. For that it is important to have deep ranks, so that no matter how deep the enemy can penetrate the formation, there will always be three ranks of yari against them. When the lines collide while the yari ashigaru push, the back ranks push despite the front ranks fighting. That can cause up to ten ranks of yari to go against the enemy. When attacking a fortress, I burn down the gate and send the yari ashigaru in yari wall through. The enemy will charge as soon as they enter the castle. And than ten to fifteen units of ashigaru fight at the same spot, bringing thousands of spears against a few dozend enemies at the front ranks, while hundreds of enemies can not aid their dying comrades as they stand to far behind.

Oda Long Yari Ashigaru have an objection to this. Matchlocks - they take too long to research and recruit and can't shoot overhead. Bow Warrior Monks are the most expensive non hero foot archers with the best range, rate of fire, and accuracy. You should also add Horse beats Matchlock and Foot Archers if they get outflanked.

If it was cavalry, the green units would have come out on top. But what pisses me off is the sad design of the Pearl Dragons. Such a good concept ruined by such shoddy model design.

The audio issue is mainly with the game. When the units engage and you zoom in to see the combat, the background music drops significantly. I have tried many things and adjusted multiple settings, but it doesn't seem to work. Shogun 2 gives a great balance between combat audio and music audio, even when being zoomed in. But Three Kingdoms isn't like that. I keep the volume quite high while gaming or recording, but it is anymore higher, and my eardrums will explode.

@yourpapersplease5000 no, they get cut down either way. The next video will be a braced Yari Wall versus No-Dachi Samurai charging them. So far, Katana and Naginata Samurai have routed the Ashigaru even in a static Yari Wall.

@yourpapersplease5000 campaign is a completely different story. There, you have multiple elements influencing a battle. But even then, Yari Wall is not invulnerable nor invincible.
