Great! Please stop back in and let me know how it went! ONE thing I would adjust - don't put flour on more than the first layer. If the sauce turns out too thin for your taste, mix flour and cold water and pour in and stir a bit at a time until you have the consistency you want.

Hello! Very interesting recipe, so simple but at the same it seems to be very tasty. Maybe I should try it at home. Greetings from Peru!

I think it was developed for those cold autumn days where there was still a lot to do outdoors on the farms. It can be left to putter for hours and hours and only gets better. I would love to hear back when you have made it!

Silicosis is an occupational hazard that you are not considering at all. It can be a fatal disease that the amount of dust this method is using would be a causal factor. The development of mould on the cotton shirts would also be an safety issue and there is no consideration of that safety issue either. This is not a safe way to reclaim clay, you are endangering yourself and others promoting it.

A friend of mine is very good at making this. It is his favourite dish. I want to make some myself. He made it for the locals in Tanzania, and they loved it. I guess most people, no matter the culture, will love this. :)

Fårikål is love

I love Fårikål without the cabbage. A fall season tradition. When my mom makes this we'll have it for a week or more which is disgusting. In my family we don't throw food away, and left overs was a given. Interesting to see the use of flour, because we never use the "kraft" as sauce. We just fish out the meat and pieces of cabbadge and eat it together with potatoes. Simple and boring. Gonna try to add chillis when I am making this.

Actually, I would *not* use low-fat lamb meat for this type of dish. The meat dries out and is nowhere near as tasty. Also, if you want to try this outside of Norway, the cuts for fårikål are brest, front legs and ribs. Hind legs are also kosher. Cheap and fatty cuts are actually better here, since they are to stew for a long time.

This looks like such a hearty home cook meal. The seasoning is just salt and peppers and the rest of he flavours comes from the meat and cabbage. Honestly I wasn't expecting much, but when the dish came out I really want to eat it!

Not so sure if I would feed folks who are staying in close quarters a lot of cabbage unless it was easy to air out ;) But then again, this is a great meal after a blustery day outdoors!

There is a saying that the more you reheat fårikål the better it tastes. And that it very best the twelfth time you reheat it.

+Giffin Grip I would be honored to have my video included. You can add this comment from me, if you like: Summer of 2016 and I still have that first Giffin grip and use it always when turning my pieces. This thing is indestructable. One of the (if not THE) best investment(s) I have made for my workshop!

Is it ok to add potatoes in the pot as well or should they be boiled separately?
@barzinimongo10 жыл бұрын
We boil the potatoes on the side and i think you should just do it like that, mostly because that the kettle may get to full and just to elimnate the potatoes from the lamb and cabbage itself. But really, its no hassle using two kettles and the potatoes use less time to boil, this lamb/cabbage takes much longer time and and you will most likely have mashed potatoes at the end and not just potatoes.
@marihani10 жыл бұрын
eLoeL Considering that the meat gets better the longer it cooks - an potatos get mushier the longer they cook - I would cook separately. Though when warming up the leftovers, it is fine to put the potatos in the sme pot.

very nice, but dont use lamb for this.Stew meat is the way too goo. Use a specimen that had like 20 kids and are kinda fat old with stinky wool. This for the autentic viking flavour that we norwegians love.

Not crispy, more like, still something you have to chew :P The Fjordland Fårikål has perfect cabbage (though take it out of the bag before you heat it, the bag is made from eco-plastic that gives some taste to the food if you heat the food inside the bag).
@Sagene0412 жыл бұрын
You used summer cabbage, it's more common to use the winter cabbage, wich is rougher and more consistent. But it looked good with the other cabbage. Maybe it soakes the grease from the lamb better.

I'm half Norwegian, but my mother taught me the American/English method of throwing. And actually I can knit that way rather fast for a thrower but I've also taught myself various Continental methods. I like your video very much. Your mother is an amazing knitter. Her work is so even. Please use a color to show your stitches which is brighter as it is difficult to see your method when using dark yarn.
@marihani7 жыл бұрын
Wow! It has taken me 4 years to reply to this. I sometimes completely forget about this channel, you see. My mother knit very evenly, indeed. It comes from being able to keep a regular tension on the feeding wool by wrapping the wool around the fingers and then lifting the pointer finger like it were a tension wire on a knitting machine, just let it kind of go with the flow of the wool. I find once around the pinky then over under for the rest of the fingers works best. To also regulate or to hold if you pause, you can tighten and loosen the fingers. It takes time to get the knack of it, but it works a dream once you have gotten the thing into muscle memory, if you know what I mean. I am sorry about the yarn colour, but I doubt I will remake this video any time soon - unless there is a public outcry asking me to do it ;-) Happy knitting!
