Kafiristan of which Kalash valley is the last unconverted part was invaded and forcibly converted by the Afghans in 1894 after the British trained & armed them. The border had been redrawn ( the Durand line ) so that the Russian empire did not have a border with British India (Wakhan stripe ) , the Kalash was the only Kafiristani tribe not included on the Afghan side . Nuristan was the new Afghan name for Kafiristan , so Kalash are not Nuristani .

Yes that’s him. The village I believe is AwlaGul. And I Will try to add subs, however, I have to be careful for the words they’re using 😅

@@Seth-hq9xb I know many words, but I haven't learnt the grammar yet. The Ramgeli dialect is the clearest, because it is simpler. But I'm trying to adapt to the Northeastern, too: u~c katë-vëri čivok vëlla latum

@@Seth-hq9xb I see, it's always interesting to know how the people feel each others' dialect. A guy from Nilaw told me: "Our speech is like a forest, and their speech is live a river." They leave more gaps while speaking while yours are filled with the extra nasal sounds and it sounds non-stop.

@@Seth-hq9xb I've got a random idea: I can supply a bunch of the Eastern recordings from the 1960s to you, if you are interested. Perhaps, you could make sense of the lyrics, while for a non-speaker it's hard to figure it out.

Thanks for the upload! I've got some questions: * Has this been filmed at another valley or in Pcigom? * Those people sitting at the chairs -- were they local "important" (respected) men of the village? * Did Habibullah double the same Kate-veri lyrics in Pashto, or did he sing anything different?

Singer is originally from psigam, and he lives in Shugul village where he is marred to a girl, and he began singing lately, as you see these are village elders are also enjoying the song. And yes he is mixing Pashto, Dari and fo course Nuristani
