Thank you for pronouncing "Kanawha" correctly. FYI, Fort Wayne never owned 2716. They simply leased it, as did Clinchfield, Southern, Norfolk Southern, and now Kentucky Steam.

Thanks for checking out my short! In the future when 2716 is operational again, I will cover the engine's history in my series Steam Locomotive Profiles. But it is currently on hiatus. College life is weird. Anyways, thanks for commenting!

You can fix a frame by using a bernzomatic torch and hammering it a few times. Delson would be a better fit. Also FMW would be a helpful option for 3713s rebuild

I've seen the unedited version of this video. She basically gets knocked sideways into where the camera is filming and that's it. People have got to start using their heads and thinking. And this was before everyone being distracted with cell phones too. This sadly could have been avoided.

It was a freak accident. You saw here walking side by side with the attorney. He just stopped and she was a couple steps ahead. You also saw there was a parked train obstructing her view. She didn't expect it to be right on top of her. She was running to make it before a train was coming but she didn't know it was right there.

RIP. I can't believe it's been 30 years. Unfortunately I did see the actual video shortly after it happened, from a local cable station. A cop brought it in. She looked like a rag doll as she was flung towards the camera, right towards the screen you are watching, and knocked the camera over. It was horrific. Terrible that she didn't see it coming. Just a few seconds earlier and she would be fine.

A very simular thing happened when I was in high school in 1970’s .2 beautiful blonde cheerleaders ran across the hwy in a group of other cheeleaders (in cheerleader outfits) tkids were running across the hwy and the parked school bus on the side of the road blocked the view of the road and kids were assuming there wasnt a truck coming simular to these trains.one cheerleader was killed the other severly disabled.

*sees 1225 in the background* And that's why even if you do the right thing I still will not trust NS, you abandoned your steam program when the locos needed them the most. Bring the program back maybe keep it up and running for 4 years and into the foreseeable future. Let them haul freight.... Once a month and then maybe I might consider forgiving them. 🚂

A tragedy all the way around, no winners here at all. This does truly show just how dangerous the train tracks are, being on them is inherently dangerous/deadly, great caution and awareness must always be present.

I've got an ersatz ghost train story you could just enjoy: the untold story of the Redesdale Ghost train. The railway to Redesdale in outback Australia might have long since been removed but nevertheless that doesn't mean the hamlet isn't haunted. During World War 1, one night, a troop train pulled by steam locomotive number V499, a Consolidation 2-8-0 was running late by the time it stopped at Barfold. The driver was determined to make up for lost time but unbeknown to him, a 4-4-0, number AA 532, was working the graveyard shift marshalling cattle wagons to take to market the next dawn. By the time the troop train reached Redesdale, a long line of empty cattle wagons was blocking the line. The crew of the 4-4-0 didn't know a troop train was speeding down the line. When they heard a faint whistle, it was too late. V499 crashed into the cattle wagons and exploded, killing the driver and fireman immediately and destroying several of the cattle wagons! The line was ripped up during the 1950s but every night on the anniversary of the disaster you can still hear puffing noises at night each March.

I've always wondered: how can you get hit by a train?? Can you not hear it? Not see it? The train can only operate on the tracks. What is sooo important that your eyes and ears cannot detect a huge ass train??

Yes her attorney and her failed to pay attention. They were too deep in conversation to realize their surroundings. She would still be alive if she had the common sense to raise her head up and look. The alarms didn't mean anything I guess.
