This performance shows me that Al is a true musical genius. His perfectionism. He does love his fans. This whole album is complete genius like so many were at the same time in the early 80s. I have seen them perform through the decades, even this year. (I’m an Industrial spaz) But I truly hope we all can see them perform With Sympathy before he acts upon his threats of no more shows (which I do believe he means)

Just listened to Al being rude on an interview. He didn’t understand why Clive wanted a black girl in the group. Shay’s voice made it a classic synth-pop song. Fast forward to 1992’s Q Lazzarus “Goodbye Horses”. Diane’s voice made it another classic synth-pop song. RIH Diane 🕊️

Just came across this in 2024. This is the most joyful I’ve ever seen Ministry. Also this version… kills over the album one. Oh Al.

That’s right, kids. No such thing as making videos with your phone. No such thing as cell phones. The sound quality of this is pretty freakin’ amazing!

Real music, not like the garbage we're getting today. The emphasis is on the sound not a cheap stunt or AI/video.

Aah!! Back when Al sounded like Weller channeling Robert Smith.. Before he went all Killing Joke-y!! Still ok though!!

This album is possibly the weirdest most important iconic recording that was ever so monumentally hated by the artist who created it. And fuck they were good live. This could very easily have been a shitshow with the available equipment at the time. Some of the live versions are arguably better than the recordings and that is saying a lot.

I wish Al hadn't been so butthurt about this album. They sounded great live and this material could have easily morphed with them over the years. It's an iconic sound that holds up.

My first concert was Ministry and Culture in SF 1984 and this is what I remember them sounding like. I got to see Ministry again at Cruel World 2024 in May, fantastic show.

it's so sad he went on the be a junkie after this, look how happy he is, AL, you know you loved with sympathy it just did not meet your junkies friends standards, granted I do really dig all Ministry stuff up until dark side.

I think ministry is at its best stuff when frankensteining hybrid between nu wave, metal , electro, its just interesting. High hopes for the last album with barker back on board as his recent lead into gold was more interesting to me than the thrash of recent years

The first two albums, With Sympathy and Twitch, and the surrounding singles and 12' were my favorite period. Saw Ministry on the Twitch tour; great wild show.

This song has always been a banger. The 12" version especially. The base and rhythm guitar are funky as hell.

It's funny how Al used to shit talk this era so much because the progression from With Sympathy to Twitch and then Land of Rape and Honey seems so incredibly natural.
