Hey! There is sampler, but not the instrument called sampler. The simpler and drum sampler. But they are not multilayer samplers

Awesome tutorial. I have an older MPK mini and I would like to split the keyboard and pad inputs as shown around 2:20. But the pads and keys are only lighting up channel 1, instead of pads on 10 and keys on 1, as shows. Could this just be due to having an older model of the MPK? I got in 2019 and never really used it. If anybody sees this and can suggest a solution, I would appreciate it!

After having my entire set of knobs get corroded on a keyboard and a mixer, I like the touch strips. Maybe it's because you can control multiple at a time, or quickly set effects/sends with a "quick set" by touching on the level you want, instead of cranking on a dial, like you would in more industry safe controllers. My understanding is that it's designed to be more performance-centric, which means that it would mesh super well with the original APC40.

I agree its more in the price range of the Launch pad pro. But the launch pad pro is better i feel, also you can pick up a push 2 second hand for the same price now which is sooo much better.

Great video, subscribed! Can you map parameters from separate audio tracks on to the external akai midi device? For example, could I map a beat repeat on a drum and a filter on the synth on that akai and switch between both without having to manually select the track I want to modulate on push? Or will it only allow you to map devices from one audio track at a time?

i feel really ripped off the amount of basic and i mean basic stuff missing from Standard is terrible. i own logic and bitwig, live costs for suite in comparison is massive. what i get in the other two is way way better per $

Bitwig studio is currently on sale for 299, down from 399. It’s less than half the cost of Ableton, and it’s better in most respects. I used Ableton since version 1. But i jumped ship after i saw Bitwig.

OMG, like all Ableton videos, if I want to learn how to drive a car, all I get is how to drive a rocketship to Pluto, and all the options therein, but never told how to open the door, turn the key, and start the car. Downloaded Ableton Live Lite 12, on a Win 11 PC, can hear the metronome, can hear the short sample played when clicking on a sound-Pads-clip, but when adding it to the arrangement view, I get nothing. Please help with a straightforward answer, and not how to change out the turbo thrusters on the rocketship.

Sounds like you're encountering a bit of a bump in the road with Ableton! Those fancy rocketship tutorials can be a little daunting when you're just starting out. Not to worry, though, I can get you cruising in no time. The good news is you're hearing the metronome and clips, that means you're halfway there! The problem is you have the arrange view muted. Simply click on the little red icon above the tracks on the right hand side. Hope that gets you to Pluto and back safely! 🚀

Again, if one wants to check out Ableton, the first thing they're going to check - in any fashion or form, is if they can hear an instrument on their speakers. Still nothing. From the arrangement view, there is no "little red icon" above the tracks on the right". Do you mean the Arm-recording button? From the Session view, what should the Monitor controls be set to - auto? Ok, again, I would like to do lots here, beginning with adding a pad to a piano arrangement, which I get from a USB drive and load on my computer - so as yet, no need for an audio interface. But I can't make any sound with any instrument on a Midi track at this point, only the metronome, and the clip sample. Please tell me it can't be this hard. (Sorry for doing this in the comments of your video, wish I could message you...)

Great video!!. Everything is explained well. This vocal chain will definitely make workflow easier unfortunately I d/l the file AL Standard and tried to install it within my AL 12 Standard DAW. I get a message saying "this set contains features that are limited or unavailable in AL 12 Standard. Details: The following device cannot be used: Convolution Reverb. I went ahead and let it install but when it came to saving it as a template AL says that feature is disabled due to this device. So I can't use it.😭😭😭 It is a nice chain though.

I had a thought. I can take advantage of the student/teacher discount, so getting Suite for $299 USD is certainly appealing (even if I don't know whether or not I need the extra Suite features yet). However, when Live 13 eventually comes out, the cost to upgrade to the 13 Suite would be huge as opposed to the scenario where I upgrade from 12 Standard to 13 Standard. And so even though Suite is only $125 more right now, I wonder if that would bankrupt me in the long term due to the upgrade price. I don't know if I'm thinking ahead too far, but at the same time I don't want to spend 100s of unnecessary dollars (in the long run) on maintaining Suite if I don't need the features. And I don't actually know if I need them (for context, I have a few years of casual experience in Ableton 11 Intro, but I want to use a range of guitar sounds that I currently don't have access to). So much to think about

Dumb review, he's just bashing AKAI controller because he doesn't like it. Touch strips are great for live playing effects, big screen for selecting instruments is cool if you like to waste time and he turned the lack of chord mode to a positive on Push 3? Bias towards it is obvious. Viewers, go watch other review that's actually objective

Thanks for your comment! It's always interesting to hear different perspectives on gear. The AKAI controller certainly has its own strengths and weaknesses, depending on what you're looking for in an Ableton Live controller. Touch strips can be great for live performance, but they're just not for me personally. Regarding the chord mode, I have videos coming on that soon!

It can be confusing, but there are 3 types of plugins you can use in Live: AU, VST2, and VST3. Any of these will work, but AU plugins are apparently more efficient on Mac computers. You can use the new filters in Live 12's browser to limit the number of versions you see.

It all depends how many songs you would have in your set. Intro you limited to 16 tracks and 16 scenes. If you we cross fading across two tracks you could only have a max of 16 songs in your set. Whereas Standard is unlimited 🎉

Although unfortunate to hear of the early test result Im excited to see your later video test & I urge you to take your time & first reach out to 'midronome' ... they are a newer device developer built by an artist collective who have developed a very small rock solid unit that resolves any hardware & software clocking issues for musicians & their gear! I recommend you pitch them on an episode idea showing the results of timing with standalone Push III & then timing tightness with midronome connected ... i think they will likely send you one in good faith for the exposure and their not to pricey if not! from all my research it also the most cost effective, precise & advanced tech that can already fix Ableton's known clocking issues. so I'm suspecting it will be able to do the same for push and will be a win win win for You, midronome & most importantly your loyal audience! ;)
