Hi Suza! Other than the pinholes in the lizard mug and the mug with the pinholes, I think everything turned out great! A wise potter told me early on that when I unload and I'm unhappy with something that has no real functional defects, to put it away for a week or two, then look at it with fresh eyes. We're often prejudiced by our expectations. The one with the pinholes, I love the outside. For the oatmeal, I would not put anything else on it unless there are bare spots, just refire. It looks like it's too thick. Safe travels, and a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Some lovely pieces Suza! I like the drips on the mug with squares, makes it unique! For the crawling question: That usually happens if the glaze is to thick, if it got to hot, the glaze ran into the bottom and got to thick. You can refire but only apply some glaze on the bare spots. Another tip: you have to put the cones in the holder correctly. Here's a video by Orton that shows you how: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mJuao6hpmK2Weac (that is why I use self supporting cones, they are easier to work with in my opinion. Grtz, Monique
@susanroswandowicz11 күн бұрын
Hey Monique, I got it. Thank you. I will fill the holes and refire it. I will use all my leftover cones and then I will also change to the self supporting cones. That is a good idea. 10 more hours and then my kiln is cool enough to open it. That is the hardest time. I don't like the waiting. But in between I can watch videos to learn from you and the other great potters. Much Love Suza

Hi Suza, some beautiful mugs in this kiln unload. I especially liked the one with the bicycle on it. In had never seen the highfire kiln paper before and would like to try it. Is it something that you would use again?
@susanroswandowicz11 күн бұрын
Hey Mary, this kiln paper is really fragil after the first use. I think you can use it only 2 times each before it breaks. For me it makes absolutely sense to use it because I don't do much Kiln Firings. For professional potters it is probably to expensive because you have to buy them all the time. That's why it ist nice to have but not necessary. A cookie with Kiln wash does the same thing. I am just to lazy to take care of my cookies. Shame on me. But it was a good question. Much Love Suza
@LianaOchsner19 күн бұрын
Nice pieces and glazing! Oh that water etched Love mug and your other favorite were really lovely and original. Congratulations on a very successful kiln unload. One question, when you said engobe, did you mean underglaze?
@susanroswandowicz11 күн бұрын
Hey Liana, sometimes that means the same. But Engobes have more Clay in it than the classic Underglazes. This is what Chat GPT says: •Engobe: Typically applied to leather-hard clay to smooth the surface or change its color. It often covers larger areas and can remain matte or slightly rough if no glaze is applied on top. Underglaze: Primarily used for detailed designs or paintings, often on dry or bisque-fired clay. It remains visible after glaze application as it shows through the glaze. I hope I could answer your question with it. Much Love Suza

Deine Tassen sehen großartig aus, gut gemacht. Bald wird es schneien, brrrrr so kalt. I tried and deleted all. Just put up a quick short of the pieces that came out of the kiln. There's a tumbler with orange on the bottom part. Its spectrum neon orange. You can see it, as you were enquiring about orange a little while back. Take care and Happy potting.

Oh honey the cones in the cone pack should face the dot when they fall. Be sure to test your pieces and make sure they’re fully vitrified. It looks like the middle probably got hot enough but since the cones weren’t at the right angle you can’t be sure. I love that pink bowl! What a great idea with the bowl to leave the strips of bare clay! Ohh and the shipwreck and cenote is gorgeous!!!! You can use the paper over and over again until it gets glaze on it!!😊 You can try and fix the crawling in that amaaaazing mug by putting glaze just where it crawled to make sure you don’t have too much. It may have crawled because there was dust in the bottom of the mug or sometimes becasue there is too much glaze. Ooh I absolutely love the LOVE mug. How cool is that! The last two pieces are awesome. Grew at kiln load!!

Hey suza, I love your refires! I just saw the inside of the mug with Botz White. I think it's glazed to thin. I use Botz in my microwave kiln (soon I can use my own normal kiln 🎉). Ialso think it might not fired hot enough. Stoneware white from botz need a temperature 1220-1280° C and I saw your heatwork reached cone 5,5, what's about 1200°C. I use Botz Pro a lot, because it can be used in a wide range of temperature. (In a microwave kiln the temperature varietes a lot, so it is always a surprise what the glazes have done....). O, and a great text : Moms fuel' 😂 I think I'm going to borrow this text from you 😊
@susanroswandowicz11 күн бұрын
Hey Jacqueline, I think so too. The Botz Pro Edition is a better choice when you don't know if you reach the temperature which is needed. Sometimes I am just not meticulously with the range of temperature they are best at. But for good results you need more than just luck like me most of the time. You are so right. Thanks for your support and for helping me in my long process of getting better with it. Much Love Suza

Love the lizard mug!! Definitely be careful with letting any clay go down the drain. Could you put a piece of plastic or a tarp under your wheel when you’re throwing? You’d have to be careful not to slip on it. But then you’re done you could take the plastic outside and rinse it off? I love that old copper glaze!! Who is it by? I LOVE THE SPOON HOLDER AND THE SPOONS!! What a fantastic idea!!😂 Do you use kiln wash? If so be sure to put a good coat of kiln wash on your spoon holder where the glaze is running! I love the idea of making a matching spoon for each mug!!! Yes!! Omg that yellow bowl is stunnning!!
