I like your detail mugs! Very original! The drippy lavender cup is lovely, too. So nice of you to share your pottery-making with friends and family.

Hey! So glad to see you again. I’m so sorry the baking dish warped so much. Please remember that clay has memory. So if you bend it and flatten it out again it will remember the way you bent it and it will bend back that way. Also when you dry handbuilt pieces that are flat you need to put weights on the flat part until it’s completely dry. You can fill socks with kitty litter or sand and use them as weights. I love your pieces you’re doing great with all the glaze combinations. And yes when using kiln stilts it will make the clay sag in the areas where it’s not supported. The leaking is as people have said. Be sure to use witness cones on each shelf if you can to make sure the kiln is getting hot enough. Also be very very careful refiring pots that have had liquid in them and leaked like that because the clay is now wet and could explode. Make sure you let pieces like that dry reallllly well before firing again. For the mugs that you want the lettering on maybe you could put the writing on a round piece of clay and put the writing on it then apply that to the side of the mug. Then it will be raised and you don’t have to put any glaze on it just the mug and it won’t run? If you have any questions please let me know and I’ll try and help explain better. Loving the mugs. Even if they aren’t round. They are hand made. I love how you put the glaze combos on the screen! It’s so helpful to take a screen shot. Great kiln load!!

Dear Michele, I am so happy that you took your time to write me all those good advices. I really appreciate that and it makes me feel good. Today I ordered those witness Cones. Can wait to use them. After my vacation I will glaze as much as possible. Hopefully with all the new glazes i will bring from the US. Most of my mugs are are hand made. I am still not good enough on the potter's wheel. But My son and I keep on trying. It was his idea to write the glaze on the screen. He has his own little KZbin channel and helps me to improve. VITAVINC - Thank you again for writing me. Your support ist great. 🙏🏻

Hi Ellen, thank you for watching. There will be another Video soon. Because of Health issues I was not able to glaze. But I'm back and happy that you are watching... Cheers Suza

Great unload Suza! With your cup that is leaking the problem is that your clay isn’t vitrified. Liquid will leak through glaze if clay has not been fired to a high enough temperature. My favourite piece is that nimbus mug even though it ran. I’ve got to give nimbus another try 😊
@susanroswandowicz4 ай бұрын
You should definitely give it another try. Nimbus turned out fantastic also on the mug with the ornaments. It’s one of my latest glazes and I didn’t use it on many pieces yet but I will. And in 4 more days I am finally in the U.S. t o pick up my stamps and the Coyote glazes. It’s like Christmas although I know what I get. Have a wonderful day and thank you so much for your support. It means a lot to me because you are one of my favorite potters ❤️

@@Mariede425 dear Marie, thank you so much for the wonderful words you sent. I promise you that there will be more kiln opening video. I have a suitcase full of glazes I will bring home from the US in 8 days. I’m already longing for going back home to put my hands on the clay. You are my first Jersey friend. That is special to me. 🙏🏻

Oh no your large dish so bright and beautiful. What a shame that it bent out of shape, the colours look fantastic. I hope you enjoy your holidays. How lucky that you can get some coyote glazes. Look forward to seeing what you get. That last mug you were holding turned out fantastic. I love the colour of it. Take care

Hello Evelyn. I'm excited to go to the US. The parcel service told me that they delivered the glazes already to the hotel. Can't wait. Hopefully I can enjoy the vacay with those glazes in my suitcase and my head. Have a great day and thank you so much for writing

Hello, I so appreciate the time and effort you put into your videos. Thanks for sharing.. For platters or plates :I do not glaze the bottom and fire them in a 1/4 inch of silica sand. I make sure my clay has been compressed in making. It is good to know we all have mishaps. Looking forward to the next video

HELLO, and thank you so much for watching and your good tip with the platters. I will try to get the sand you were talking about. Today I will load my kiln again after a long time. Can't wait for tomorrow for the Opening and the results. Hope you will watch 🙂

Your glaze technique is really great, glazing is (to me) the hardest thing to learn. The mug that leaked coffee, the inside of the mug looked like it had texture, not very smooth glass like finish. This could be because not fired at full temp or the glaze may not be completely compatible with the clay? Either way it could harbor bacteria in the texture so may not be 100% food safe. Also, the mug not being completely round, could that be the metal kiln stands? Or, some clay has a deep memory, like porcelain, so if it was out of round while drying it could revert to that shape during firing even if you fixed it before completely dry/bisque. Hope that made sense. You are doing really good, your pieces are so gorgeous .
@susanroswandowicz4 ай бұрын
Dear Erika, I am so happy that you are around to give me such good advices. Never thought, that the metal stands could have an impact. I used them the first time. Will keep on trying to find out. When a mug is not completely food safe can I use it anyways? I’m not so sensitive. Or is it really dangerous ? I hope I can count on you and your knowledge also in the future. That helps me a lot. Have a wonderful day. Cheers Suza

I test all my mugs after firing by putting hot water in them. If the clay isn't fired to the required temperature to vitrify it, it will weep and you will get moisture under the mug. All clays have a certain temp for vitrification so you have to look at that when you buy it. Also, for dinnerware I look for clay that has an absorbtion rate

Hi from Oregon, USA. I enjoyed your video. How old is your son? I’m teaching one of my grandsons. My hand built mugs don’t come out round, either, because the clay has a memory. I hope you’re having a wonderful time on your trip! Which part of the US are you visiting?

Hi Mary?! We Are in las Vegas Nevada right now. We’re going to Utah and Arizona for the next 10 days. My son is 17. Because of him I started doing pottery. I just wanted to spend some time together and booked a pottery class with him. That was the beginning of the journey. Now we have our own wheel and kiln. And we have a lot of fun. How old is your grandson? Does he love it too?
@marycarolyn12934 ай бұрын
@@susanroswandowicz My grandson is 14 and he enjoys working on the wheel. I can see him improving every week. My kiln is large and we almost have enough for his first bisque fire. Your English is very good. I hope you have a wonderful time on your vacation!

Put square dish straight on kiln shelf, not glazed bottom, and use something so the clay can move a bit. Dont use stilta.
