The three handles mounted on the outside looks like a huge Improvement, I bet it spins easier being balanced compared to the one handle.

That's a massive Roubo. Where is this bench located now? Would it be possible to visit in person?

What are they spraying on the bed of the stratoplaner? I imagine it’s something to help with making the feed smooth and not sticking, just wondering what you use

Extra ! I did a smaller Roubo WorkBench with heavy Oak pieces from France... I love it and thanks to this Roubo Project. I guess that even then (during Marie-Antoinette) Carpenters knew what great woodworking tools they need... It was wonderful looking at skills of such artists and let's imagine without "electricity fairy" what it cost them :-)

What an incredible journey! What an incredible bench! I enjoyed the Swartz giving an almost. military briefing about the mission! While machines were used they were not any machines! That was a vintage Oliver Stratoplane! And north field machines. Both have colorful history in their own right!

I hate working oak. It blunts tools, and sharp edges and splinters are a pain. It eats iron and steel. Lovely Roubo bench but there are plenty of wide diameter trees to be used. Stately home Cedar of Lebanon comes to mind. Roubo actually recommended Elm and preferably Beech.

Roubo documented this design in the years before the French revolution (it must have been old already then) and its still an outstanding workbench. Respect to all these guys in the video for keeping the knowledge alive.

Those guys sure know what they are about....watching the fork lift set it down over the joinery and it FIT...Not quite the experience I had with my Roubo project. But I like mine just the same. I've a friend with a mobile sawmill....with any luck at all, enough of a stack of hard Maple will come to me that I can give it another shot. -Veteran '66-68

This was a great video but i feel the project was ruined by the end. The use of handtools became so significant at the end it ruined where the video was heading. I understand different skills and approaches for the ages but no. For a project like that. Too american :)
