French drains are AWESOME. I did 100ft one by hand at my moms. Her sump pump runs about 10% of the time compared to running 75% of time before drain was installed.

Those stones look sharp..not sure if that fabric would last long with people walking on top. But since it is open french drain it should last even without fabric.

The distribution boxes are there to collect roof shingle gravel and any debris that comes off the roof run off also allows easy access and maintenance for the French drain and downspout drain thanks for watching
