Thanks for watching. Apparently a lot of people like that style. The tiles and plumbing were ruined in places and the whole place had to be gutted.

God bless your family! I have 4 kids 4 and under and might have another in the next 18 months. Thinking about a 6-12 month trip maybe in a year. This Fleetwood model looks ideal with the bunk and the overhead bed! Do you like pulling the enclosed trailer vs a regular trailer or just a tow vehicle? I am guessing you don’t have anything to compare it to but curious if you like it that way.
@corbanfamily Жыл бұрын
Thanks Dustin! The Fleetwood Excursion has been great for us, though with the kids getting bigger, it's becoming a little less functional for full time living. Pulling a trailer is a little limiting because of the added length and maneuverability, however, we love the extra space when we stop, and I love that the SUV is mostly protected - If you're towing a vehicle I recommend the enclosed trailer. - when we stop it doubles as a play space, recording studio, and office.

sorry! We weren't creating a museum and we didn't like the pink everywhere. I can understand now how our title might be misleading that way - which was definitely not our intention.

:-( such a shame to destory such a beautiful historic bathroom
@corbanfamily Жыл бұрын
it had already been destroyed by vandals prior to our purchasing the house - cracked tiles and non-functioning plumbing & electrical. Besides the pink tiles were hideous to us, and we feel like just because something used to be done a certain way, doesn't mean that it was good, or should be preserved.
@rich50342 жыл бұрын
Thank you for sharing this adventure with me. You did a great job of accurately capturing a remodel performed by real people (awesome ones!) Long hours, the messy parts, innocently capturing some tired bodies, minor pitfalls etc. The outcome is great as well! Sure some nostalgia was lost but come on. You wouldn't drive around in a 1920's automobile for your daily commute. Hahaha. Maybe put a modern engine in an old chassis sure. I think you struck a great balance between modern amenities and respecting the history of the house. Bravo!

Bittersweet but, what must be done ... must be done. What a hard working young man. I might be doing the same for a 1950's (seafoam green) bathroom soon. All that work to preserve for over 64 years ... but, a plumbing issue became a crawl space issue when plumbers ignored request to peak behind access panel in linen closet. Put a coupler on a pipe 4 years too late ... and tried to hide the damage to wood below. SMH It turned out absolutely beautiful. My toilet & vanity look very similar (hoping to save). I might have to borrow some of your tile ideas. Looks great! By the way that is/was a HUGE 1920's bathroom. Just Wow.

Time and damage to tiles, plumbing, and electrical were also instigators for our remodel... besides the pink was a little too much for our tastes.

There were cracked tiles and malfunctioning plumbing, so something had to be done.
@Cloudburst20002 жыл бұрын
No hate! I also had to rip out a 1950s bathroom due to wood rot in the walls from a ceiling leak. The bathroom just wasn't salvageable. The tiles were also the only part of the original bathroom that were left. We had planned on saving the tiles and reusing them. Out tiles were yellow with green edge trim. However, due to the way the tiles were adhered to the walls, the only way to get them down was via sledgehammer. I remodeled the bathroom very retro again. I added in retro-ish tiles, vintage lighting, a vintage sink and toilet in blue, and vintage decor. Sometimes the original stuff has to go because it is just not able to be saved.
@corbanfamily Жыл бұрын
exactly - the sledgehammer was essential to remove all the tiles - many of which were already broken.
@KMx1082 жыл бұрын
You could have blended in a new wall to do the electrical. Ripping out the entire bathroom wasn't necessary.
@corbanfamily Жыл бұрын
Some of the tiles were broken and the plumbing was corroded. ...and we didn't like the pink or the pedestal sink which was inconvenient with children.

White is a great color to choose when you can't put a color scheme together. It is really cold looking. Did you rip out kitchen cabinets to install a dishwasher too? Maybe new vinyl flooring over the hardwood floors?
@corbanfamily Жыл бұрын
We prefer white everything. we like the simplicity and peacefulness of it. The kitchen cabinets had been replaced in the 80's with something horrible, and they had installed vinyl and carpet over all the beautiful wood floors throughout the house - which we were able to restore.

There were some broken floor and wall tiles, and the plumbing needed to be replaced - so it had to go. I'm glad you liked it, but it wasn't practical for our family, nor was it our style preference. Good luck on your remodel!
