Fireworks at Mt Rushmore 2020, 4th of July Celebration

We happened to be in South Dakota during this historical event with President Trump speaking and Rushmore’s first time having fireworks in 10 years!
But since we weren’t one of the 7500 people selected to attend...we decided to hike in the backside of the mountain to see the fireworks.
What we didn’t expect was a lightning storm and a downpour as we hiked out, in the dark!
We also met some unexpected company!

yes!! we will cherish this for sure! and I think you're right...they were both military trained, working security in the woods for days. They were so cool!!
