I’ve been on Nexium for around 7 years.. I have GERD(which can be cured outside of Nexium), but I also have a hiatal hernia and Barrett’s esophagus… My GI told me that even though PPIs aren’t really designed to take long term, there are special circumstances(like me)… She told me the risks of esophageal cancer increase dramatically without PPIs being I have Barrett’s… One thing that sucks though is it’s caused me to have iron deficiency anemia.. PPIs prevent the absorption of iron in the body.. I’ve spent a year so far getting iron infusions and trying to get my Nexium and iron dosages tuned right… Nexium has definitely helped me but the negative long term effects are definitely a drag..

I'm having waves of confusion. Unfortunately, taking pregablin at it's highest dose 3 times a day for extreme sciatic pain. Started taking 25mg of Tramadol along with tylenol because the pain has gotten out of control. I think, but I'm not sure that one of these scripts is the culprit of my confusion. When I read the litature that came with the scripts it doesn't mention confusion. I at times lose my train of thought in mid-sentence. This is concerning. What is your opinion on this?

I have been on this drug 8 years for a bad hiatle hernia. If I do not take it-I will have pain that is so massive you have no idea. Those that know, know. The only other option is surgery risk. I take Magnesium, B12 and Calcium Citron to balance the losses of those nutrients and try to do it all in liquid form under the tongue to maximize absorption. I also only do 20mg (one pill) per morning 30 min before eating. I suggest following what I do. It is impossible to get off of it without surgery if you have Hiatle or Barretts or bad ulcers.Try to stay at 20 mg and balance any additional with Gaviscon. That way you do not over do it as they describe. It is a wonder drug but do not take more than one pill per day.

This doctor lost me at his reasons for talking it long. He does not even mention Hiatle Hernia or Barretts etc... this looks like a set up for suing Nexium.

I take tramadol 50mg and take it 1 tab twice daily for my spinal fractures and arthritis in both knees. I used take 1 tab in morning and night. My doctor proscribed it too me. I had no problems with kidneys by another medicine to gout med I can't take due to my age 64yrs old so the ER doctor didn't listen to me when I told her my pharmacist said if over 60yrs old cant take it. And it mess up kidneys.

Tramadol only metabolizes into an opioid in a very small percentage of the population, most of whom do not reside in the USA. It’s a sham scam, and it needs to be called out for such. It gave me welts that itched until I bruised. It’s just a shut up pill for disabled people!!!!♿️💀♿️

I went to the ER last month for palpitations they said I was in AFIb. They performed a TTE and heart rate went back to normal. I been on Xaralto since last month and been having stomach ache that is so painful that I feel like I am in labor and horrible lower back pain. I was not able to sleep. I called my doctor several times but he kept saying take the drug. I told him I will need a pain killer to tolerate the drug. Last week I had blood in my urine and went to the ER again. They said I had kidney inflammation or infection. They put me on antibiotic. I stop the Xaralto the bleeding stop and the pain stop and I was able to sleep. I am changing doctor and I will take my risk of a stroke. I feel this med is not for me and it will kill me if I kept taking it or destroy my organs

Not sure if this will help anyone or anyone can help me. But, I did some research, and they recommended to take for 14 days. I been doing it “only when needed”. I have stomach acid problems, and haven’t got it check yet. So usually when I eat something spicy, fermented, sour food, and just any acid food, my upper stomach would hurt so bad until I take nexium. It calms down my stomach and sometimes it does make me feel bloated. But also stop the pain and the pain will go away. Not sure if this is good or bad but since the pain stop I said I guess I’ll take it only when needed. Wouldn’t make sense for me to take it up to 14 days since I know these stomach acid pain/issues DO COME BACK. I would suggest to just stay away from food that makes you feel pain like spiciness, and all I listed before. Food is just too good. If anyone is reading this, let me know your experience on acid problems and stomach pain. I have had this pain since 11 years old and I’m 23 now but I just started taking nexium for about.. 2 years now. But only when needed. So I usually take one every 2 months sometimes once a month or when the pain hurts.

I wished I would have seen this video when you posted it six years ago. My Doctor prescribed me Nexium in 2011, I took it until 2015 and then I started taking Zantac for nearly three years and then my Doctor put me back on Nexium, so here I am in 2023, taking it everyday for the last 7 years, no Doctor has told me about the kidney disease, so I get my lab results back two weeks ago, I have stage 2 kidney failure and a vitamin D Deficiency with brittle bones, oh what?

I was using Pulcet which is pantoprazole (just another proton pump inhibitor) for over 10 years and still it wasn't always enough to stop my acid reflux so I was taking Rennie too when needed which is antacid tablet, sometimes once or twice and sometimes ten times a day and night depends on what I've ate that day or evening. Now my doc prescribed me Nexium for two months and forbid to eat junk food, spices, chocholate, coffee and try to reduce cigarette consumption which I left using totally. I assume he will check if my stomach is the problem or my diet and the things I eat. Leaving these junk food and coffee/cigarette alone didn't totally helped but I also thought if I had to take care of my junk food consumption, usual spice and seasonings in regular foods and daily coffee consumption my whole life to prevent acid reflux, well what a shitty life it is! Will I eat only boiled potato rest of my life? I prefer to use PPI my whole life than forbidding myself eating simply chips, fries with spices. I'm living in old spice trade route dammit, you can find spice shops everywhere. I was hardcore smoker over 10 years but I stopped smoking immediately, but I think I can't stop use of seasonings in my foods, lol. Also I want to drink coffee, I was drinking 5 to 10 cup a day, each cup consist of three cofee spoon instant coffee, I feel shit without coffee! Oh wait, I always feel shit no matter what. Anyway, I don't look for smoke but I want coffee. lol

I use lovenox bc I have a blood disorder I didn't know I had and was diagnosed with over 30+ pulmonary embolisms. But it gave me my life back. I do think their needs to be better education on how to give it and where bc I researched it. The hospital didn't tell me much. All blood thinners can cause bleeding not just lovenox. Coumadin is one of the worst ones to be on. I've heard too much bad my whole life on that

Nexium is killing me. And replicating the symptoms of heart disease and pushing back into relapse. I drank 2 fifths of whiskey a day. And never felt this type of pain. The hyper acidity that comes back is not cool. Went to ER and the the doctor said "well some people take it for the rest of their lives" and then she stated "yes it can and most likely will cut your lifespan down by years....years..."

The vitamin deficiencies will cause heart arythmia. High blood pressure. If they check your magnesium levels it is useless, it's not stored in the blood. You will need to have your Vit B12 and Vit D checked. I take a huge amount of both. And you need to take a large amount of Magnesium Citrate. It is noted by the FDA about the vitamin deficiencies, but they don't tell us, and those three practically run our systems!!! You will feel better. They caused me to have pseudo dementia symptoms, my BP through the ceiling, arythmia, anxiety attacks, sleep cycle was shot.

OMG you keep popping up with that same comment. What - do you work for them??? Wait until every single thing you love to eat or drink is off the table because the crap that worked so great at first... Like it's meant to... ###ks you up... Like the FDA says it will. I did a deep dive into it when I started seeming to fall apart. Read what the FDA put out. And kept putting out adding, to the pharmacies, warnings. I just sat there. And realized I didn't need a cardiologist and more prescriptions. I was completely depleted of essential vitamins. That literally run the body. The Neurological tests showed dementia range answers. The blood work showed EXTREMELY low B12. I'm fine thank God. And the years of migraine headaches stopped with the sublingual B12. Sublingual because I've now got erosive gastritis from the wonderful omeprezole. Like hamburger. I am literally a water drinker. It's not what I eat 🙄🤷‍♀️. It's the medicine. Go to the FDA site. I can't absorb B12. And lots of other things. From food. Yes. You feel great now. You're still in a fairly safe zone. The damage will begin after 9 months or so. And it won't be anything you will attribute to the medicine... But please please believe me. Wean off of it slowly now. Enjoy eating food you love for the rest of your life.
