What balance issues did u have… I had my first sail yesterday and instead of wood I used aluminium square tubing then added a small transom . My battery was a small 6x6 inch 24Ah (slightly lighter than the 65lb Thust Motor. Worked fairly ok with only a slight im-balance( small mod still required to add a fraction more weight to battery side

Caught this vid again. There is another KZbinr I follow. He has his Jonny bass 100. He gets 8 to 10 mph, but I believe he's running a 4hp, older mercury. And he adjusted the motor. But, I run my 2020, 2.5 Suzuki and it's an awesome one man boat. Usually 5 to 6 mph. 🌊 🎣 🛶

Love my Jonny bass boat. One man fishing machine. Me and my buddies do 4 to 5 day camp/fish trips a summer. But I do my tournaments, fun fish the mangroves, flats, Backcountry in the keys. I run my 2.5 Suzuki, with the steering kit, all my other add-ons, and accessories. I just received the 8 ball steerable motor. That'd be a different machine with a 2.5 or 3hp outboard. And use the trolling motor so the fish won't spook. And I can walk all over that boat. Insane stability. 🌊 🎣 🌴

I definitely think its stable and secure. With that said, I do have the motor tethered.
@canam2436 Жыл бұрын
I’ll give you more simplicity.. I took a milk crate, attached a large piece of wood to the crate (bolts) and put the crate in the back of the kayak. The crate is weighed down by the weight of the wood and battery and some fishing supplies. Then put the trolling motor on the piece of wood. This way, there is no stress on the kayak rod holders (the holders crack from the stress apparently) and it’s easy to unload.. simply take off the motor and lift out the crate. I have had this set up for 3 years and there is no problem, no damaging of the kayak and no special tools or things to do.

Thanks for the video. In your opinion, would you be able to adjust the location of the towers to make a smaller spacing between bars by about 2.5 inches? I have a specific carrier in mind that needs between 25 and 27 inches to mount to the crossbars. Yakima tech support simply says to look up install and follow directions.
@riceandbeansoutdoors74342 жыл бұрын
I would think so. The bars seem like they are located in an awkward position on the roof the way they are recommended. Especially the front. I'm sure there is some reasoning for this but who knows. I played by the rules in my scenario. My friend who was installing told me to move the front bars back a little but I kept it as is.

@@riceandbeansoutdoors7434 OK thanks for the quick reply. Still trying to sort out whether I'm willing to chance it on a $1000 setup. Just can't find another "affordable" carrier in the size I want to fit my Telluride.

I've had my Jonny for 2 year's, and named her "Wicked Oange. I do run the 2.5 Suzuki outboard. And the 8 ball steering trolling motor, so when i get to my spots, I can steer my boat. I'm 5ft 7" 152 lbs. And I purchased the transom with the steering kit, and knob to switch the motor in gear or in neutral. You're gonna love that boat. It's stability is insane. The pod trolling motor will move you about 4 to 5 mph. But that 2.5 outboard is perfect. My friend runs the Honda outboard. But you make her your own. It really is a one man bass boat. Especially all the add-on's which I'm still doing a few things a season or in the winter. And always have your paddle on board.. you know motors. But not fun to paddle, but good workout, lol. Stay safe bro..🙏 😎 🎣

Do you keep these permanently mounted or take them on and off? Also, the metal hook that comes down from the mount, does it affect the paint at all where it makes contact?
@riceandbeansoutdoors74342 жыл бұрын
I keep mine on permanently since I use them so often. There's like a foam padding on the part that clamps to the car so paint shouldn't be affected.

Thank you. I looked under that rubber strip where the roof rails would go and there wasn't anything under there to attach a roof rail. Strange that KIA didn't put anything there. I'm sure it can be done but it's something I just didn't want to deal with on a new car.
