I remember landing a 207 there in a foot of mud. The runway was 1/3 that long too . We'd land on the river in spring with a lot of water on top of the ice.

How does this 207 handle with 7 pax?
@DefiantAero2 жыл бұрын
With 300hp out front, fully loaded she climbs about like a 172 that's fully loaded, 4-500fpm. But, if the engine quits, the 207 doesn't glide so much as falls controllably. This is why they call it The Sled: it goes downhill a lot easier than it goes uphill!
@chuckkendall74073 жыл бұрын
I see you have your elevator trim and AP breakers color collared. Good practice. Such a well thought out machine but why would arguably the most critical CBs to have instant access to be on the other side of the fairly wide cockpit. Imagine an aggressive trim runaway situation where the inertia reel seatbelt locks. Could you reach the trim breaker?

How come this Malibu Mirage is equipped with a 2 blade propeller ?
@DefiantAero5 жыл бұрын
I'm guessing it was an option from the factory, as the POH only mentioned the three blade prop. Technically, the two blade prop should be just a little faster than the three blade.
@tropicthndr5 жыл бұрын
This plane needs the m500 wing, if you could order it with that option it would hit it out of the park, much better leading edge for cutting through the prop wash, cruise would go way up.
@rainerzufall6895 жыл бұрын
No, it won't. And I can prove it from here sitting in my chair. The Jetprop uses this wing and goes almost exactly as fast as any meridian.

Nice vid and I’m envious! Working on my commercial now in hopes of getting to Alaska to do some full time flying there in the next year or so. Live in Wisconsin currently, but we have a cabin a bit northeast of Fairbanks off of the Steese hwy. Making a career change and looking forward to getting to Alaska full time while I’m 43 years young! Keep them coming!

What is your average altitude when tundra flying? Does Grant do 2 on/2 off for bush flying like Hageland? Thanks for sharing. (Once an Anchorage dweller)
@DefiantAero6 жыл бұрын
We fly at 800 to 1200 all day long. Nothing to run into out here. 135 minimum is 500, company min is 600, and I've spent whole days scraping along at 6-700ft. CAVU days like the other day are a rare treat!

@@DefiantAero I flew a C207 out of Juneau years ago Part135 VFR. We never filed IFR nor got a pop-up (although 2miles viz and 500' is pretty IFR by most standards). Do you ever file IFR in the C207's with Grant? Thanks for the video. Feeling nostalgic.

Just checked out yesterday in a 77' Cheetah our club has down at Pearland. Liked it! Engine tends to run pretty warm in these summer temps. Two of us on board, decent climb rate. Has the 160hp upgrade. First landing was crap, but after I figured out the sight picture, easy after. Thanks for posting your vids. P.S., how far back can that canopy be opened in flight? I didn't see that in the POH.
