very cool and very useful. I am trying to make point clouds from local areas so I can use them in unity as a crazy game background. hopefully i can apply effects to have the world crumble as you fly past it etc (sure you have seen examples online like the vietnam one). Seems to take a lot of time for metashape to work with say 700 photos, but im hoping to get something i could walk through for a while in my game. I will keep experimenting, thanks a lot. I was lost for days researching and this seems the fastest way to get what Iwant, like you I want the cool factor of it all being not perfect.

didn't work for me. After activating the AFI, Google Maps won't Allow you to use the maps in 3D mode. Sad. I tried every single thing with the Graphic settings and whatsoever. So Sad:T

But can your web activity be tracked though?

Did they change this in rhino 8? When I am in perspective mode I am able to use HOLD(CTRL + SHIFT) + RMB to rotate. If I rotate the model and lock onto the top view by TAP(CTRL + SHIFT) I am unable to get out of top view by tapping or holding down (CTRL + SHIFT) + DRAG(RMB) .

Can someone tell me how he extrudes just one side of the object so fast when he's matching it to the Cplanes at the end? I'm clicking the object ➔ "solidpton" ➔ select them ➔ extrude them... Hes so much faster

Heey! Thanks so much! You saved me a ton of time. One quick question . Let’s say I have a surface with a hole in the middle, if I use the grasshopper model it’s gonna nest both the hole and surface in different la places. Is there any way to group them or bind them so they are nested together?

I have this nearly working with the new flag added. However, 3D is disabled in Google Maps. When I press clrt + shift and mouse hover satellite view, it doesn’t change it to 3D. Any advice? Cheers!

If someone's having issues getting Chrome to connect to Renderdoc, try adding this to the end of the Chrome shortcut target: --disable_direct_composition=1 As @therealscarhomie said it should look something like this: C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /c "SET RENDERDOC_HOOK_EGL=0 && START "" ^"[INSERT YOUR CHROME PATH HERE]^" --disable-gpu-sandbox --gpu-startup-dialog --disable_direct_composition=1" and thanks to @modicool now it works for me too with renderdoc version 1.35 :DD

I get to the part where chrome gives me a gpu but when i put it into render doc and hit okay i just get a new gpu number, does anyone know what I'm doing wrong or how to fix this? I'm using render doc 1.35 because 1.17 would not open.

Hello, I like the look of the final product in this method compared to others. I’m having some trouble though. I’m using Rhino 8 and when I load in the first .obj I am given more options and the satellite image of the base map doesn’t load in. I only get the mesh. Also, I am using a city section that has mountainous terrain. Should I be using the same method using a bounding box and shooting it to the bottom even though some of the buildings on top of the mountain are going to be dramatically taller than they should be? Definitely not getting the same results in grasshopper even though I’m copying exact instructions. Any advice would be appreciated. I’m not sure if in 4 years things have changed a lot.
