I think I may have a dental issue that prevents me from correcting the lisp, even tho I keep my tongue inside my mouth my S is still not clear like a normal person, should I go to a dentist ?

I think you should go consult a professional speech therapist or a voice coach first before doing anything to your teeth. Speaking from my personal experience.

This was fantastic help, esp the dynamics explanation, and the exercises. I had a problem with a lisp when I was a kid. Last year a medicine I was prescribed made my lisp come back, I think because it made my tongue feel sort of frozen. Weird I know, so I stopped taking it and the lisp went away. Just thought I'd mention this in case anybody noticed a lisp getting worse and that it might be from a medicine.

I think this is the best video. I learned how to do it properly in one night, thank the lord, but I'm still practicing getting it right every time. I've realized my main problem was airflow to help me project and pronounce S.

Salty water may help your throat to hydrate. The magic is in the dose - if the salt is about 1%, it will hydrate you, if the salt is over 1% it will dehydrate you.

Thank you for the video. I've recently come through a native speaker video on phonetics, and she states that /h/ sound is voiced. But it is obviously voiceless. Am I correct?

I'm so happy this was explained to me. One of the worst things about having a lisp is that many people and most people wont tell you so you may never correct it, in your life time.

I’m really struggling. My S has a whistle-y, unclear noise. My teeth are straight and it seems like my tongue is in the right place. This is really bad for me in particular because I’m a super verbal person. I do debate, acting and singing and it’s very difficult for me to be taken seriously. I think it might be caused by just having a fat tongue, any tips or ways that might help me compensate for this?

The "o" sound gets me every time. I can say "G'day" but I can't say "hello" with an Australian accent. It's somewhere between "Hellor" and "Helloi" but I can't quite get it.

Self trained, self-conscious speach, is the most off-putting comunication style. It is not warm enough for human to human communication. You sound like a robot and people will feel you are treating them like you treat everyone else. If you say something stupid or sensitive while talking normally, you may be forgiven. If you say something stupid while talking in a trained manner you lose your credibility forever. Whenever I hear a speach trained person speaking, after the first mistake from their part, I talk to them like they are beneath me. Because my thought goes: 'you are incompetent and you want to mask your incompetence by sounding tough and smart'. Basically you forcefully set yourself a standard, which you most probably can't live up to. Why would you want to do that?

This sounds very Stressed. Stressful. Pained enunciation and weird pauses between words. I want to better my speech but not sound battery operated or wound so tight.
