Hi Jim. I'm writing to you from Argentina. I must tell you that I'm very sorry that you have to leave the KZbin channel because of a problem with the damn algorithm. In my country, we say this when something like this happens: What a mess, man! I discovered your channel very recently. I don't restore things to sell them or to make money with a KZbin channel. I restore things that I want, because I like them or because I need something (for example: a tool or a kerosene stove or whatever), I look for something cheap, old and of good quality. Then, if I see that it's at a good price, I buy it and restore it for my personal use. With ALL of your channels, those who are dedicated to restoring things and invest TIME, MONEY and LOVE in the restoration and in spreading what you do through KZbin (where to place the camera, how to put the lights to make it look better, the editing work, etc.), I learn A LOT (I am a musician, a pianist and I teach music to kindergarten children). My father has built four automatic wire bending machines himself (based on an Italian model which he has perfected.) The amount of tooling he has done for this is COUNTLESS and he has bought many old machine tools to do his job: a power file, a bench lathe, a bench boring machine, a milling machine, a grinding machine, a power saw, several rocker arms (he only has one now), an autogenous welder, a bench grinder, two hand lathes, an orbital sander, a heat gun, a 200 litre compressor, paint brushes, paint torches, etc. And of course, LOTS of hand tools (you name it Jim). With all that my father has taught me, what I now have at my disposal in his shop, plus the WONDERFUL work that you and all the people like you have done, I am ENORMOUSLY grateful. I'm writing this to wish you LUCK in whatever you do from now on; whether that means you're leaving KZbin for good or, at some point, you're thinking about coming back in some way that suits you financially and emotionally. So, even though I've only recently found your channel, THANK YOU, Jim, for spreading the word about what you do and for teaching us how to work.

It's a sad day in the tool restoration world when this kind of thing happens. But you are right Jim, the YT algorithm is rubbish/broken - I hardly see any recommendations for my subscriptions unless I watched them in the last week. I set my account so it is not monetized, I just did YT for the enjoyment of being in the workshop, and the challenge of trying (and failing) to make a decent video, which is really, really hard! I hope your ebay accounts continue to do well, and hopefully you will get more throughput for them if you are not stopping to film some of the cleanups. All the best!
