Honestly if there are that many problems with a cruise then I disembark and fly home. Did that twice with Celebrity. Thanks to Casino conps that’s a lot easier when no money is on the line of course.

Our Family cruises every 5 yrs and our deal was $5,500(+$250 OBC) for a Mini Suite on a 7 night Med cruise. Seems like I got a GREAT price. Does anyone Disagree?

We are about to do this ship (the pricing on two inside cabins, 2 people each was actually pretty good for Thanksgiving week). But I'm anticipating the issues you mention. I'm bringing a book and anticipate seeing fewer shows than usual because I too hate standing in long lines. If you get to the theater long before the show, do you have to just line up? or can you go in and take a seat? I'm sure we will enjoy it overall, but I anticipate not wanting to do this class of ship again...

There were cabin flaws. Even the smallest rollater could not get into the door without folding it. Also a person that was 5 "3" could not reach the rack in th closet to hang their clothes.

Tip #11: Don't sail with Princess 😂

Most of my cruises have been on HAL and Celebrity. Next year, we are scheduled for cruises on the Regal Princess and the Discovery Princess. We are more budget travelers and prefer older ships where the crew is more experienced and the product more tested. If I watched this video with all of the branding removed, I would have sworn that you were reviewing the Norwegian Epic, a failed concept ship. Its overcrowded venues and terrible layout are very similar. If I go on a cruise, I want to have a fair shot at actually hitting all of the shows that I want to attend. I also want to make sure that sitting down and enjoying dinner in the MDR or buffet is a relaxed experience, not a stressful one. Personally, I do not see how you could be on that ship for 40 days. I would have not made two weeks. For me, a lack of a full promenade on a ship this size is a major impediment as that is how I get my exercise. Great review. I wish more of the other producers would be more honest.

Wow, you're expereince does not reflect our experience, whatsoever. While we only spent 14 days on her, we like it so much we booked another two weeks for next year.

Sad that the entertainment on Regal Princess has not improved. We were hoping it was just a fluke from our 10-day British Isles cruise Sept 2023. We agree the musical entertainment and shows were mediocre at best. Oh well. At least all the ports are amazing.

A lot of new ships are overrated with change for change sake. This one is particularly bad. Layout, size of venue, dull and washed out colors, open lounges with competing music, too many acrobats, lining up to go into venues, poor signage,. Yes, better cabins, but that doesn't make up for the rest of the ship. Here's my problem with new ships coming from someone whose first cruise was in 1970. I offer this comment in the spirit of not older is better, which I certainly don't believe, but seeing different cycles of "new." I've seen most of these "older" ships when they were new from the eyes of the person at that time vs. now, which is crucial. What made a ship different from other experiences was not worrying about extra costs when you boarded beyond drinks. Then there were wraparound decks and promenade decks where you just could relax and see a much wider perspective than from your private cubicle (balcony). Then there was the couple's aspects of mix, mingling in a choice of lounges finding your favorite ensemble to listen to or dance to. Food and presentation was available as well, things like ice and fruit sculptures and even watching them being created. Specialty dining added an elevated dining experience at first, but now they are excessive and in no way special. They're just choice dining now. More and more stuff on decks added more family entertainment but now they are at the point where you don't get the vantage point of wide views at sea and you get gimmicks like glass flooring on decks. Lounges are fewer and fewer for entertainment events and acrobats so you get less, nor more, choice of mixing, mingling music choices, personal choice interaction rather than directed interaction in an atrium or other space. And cruise lines are making ships obsolete with the addition of so many new ships so often. Unless you value current ships people tend to look toward the newest ones. There is a lot lost in the new classes of ships that I don't think people fairly new to cruising realize.

We did one of the ships that had the nightclub raised up on kind of a spoiler and that's what they're taking off.. and it was really a fun space and it was used a lot! & getting rid of the casino bar that stinks.. I play Slots and it's almost impossible to get a drink from the servers that walk around, between machine switching I go to the bar and grab a drink myself. Princesses definitely trying to attract younger family since they're the ones that generally spend the most money on kids. It also depends on your itinerary Panama Canal is always going to be a snooze especially if not during the summer vacation months

How much do you have to spend on a slot machine to earn one point, is it $2.50?

I like your recommendations, BUT after just being on the Sun Princess, if a pool is not included, it is not worth it for me for any price.

Cruises twice from Vancouver and both our ships were on time and it was a quick and smooth transition to get on the ships. Once was Princess and once was Hollander America. There were lots of people trying to get on but it didn’t take long at all to go through customs and get on the ship.

Thanks for the video. I can see that this ship is not for me. I am surprised at the poor service and lack of customer care. On the much maligned Carnival, I had great service on a beautiful ship (Carnival Venezia, NYC to Caribbean.)

Great, fair review. By the end I was thinking this ship feels like the company pulled a pre-built ship design off the shelf and labeled it Princess. I am baffled how many spaces are so poorly thought out. Side note - wooo binging the Good Wife. We’re on season 4 rewatching it again. So well written

Apparently, I was on the cruise across the Atlantic, as were you. I am an Elite cruiser with Princess and very loyal. Your review is the most accurate I have seen. For my wife, she disliked the small venues and the lack of a pickleball court. I was able to relax and people watch, while i enjoyed libations. I’d try it again, perhaps in the Caribbean. But, it is not my favorite ship.

Thank you for the review. We had a cruise scheduled for 2026 on Sun Princess, and cancelled it to do something else. We are going to stick with the Royal Class ships for Princess.

Great video. Hopefully they have the issues worked out when I get on in February. Did upgrade to the Premiere package to make sure I had a show seat (as well as unlimited drinks and specialty dinners). Have the Enchanted Princess in May so at least I'll get the true Princess experience there,

I totally agree with you! We didn’t find anything special about Sanctuary collection. Most times the concierge staff were completely no help at all. Customer service was completely lacking, to say it kindly on Sun Princess. We hated our experience so badly, we will not be returning to a Sphere class ship. While on Sun Princess we canceled our Sanctuary Collection grand suite on our future cruise of Star Princess. The future cruise department never even bothered to to ask why.

All the real gamblers hit all the jackpots and smoke! Casino should be 100% smoking

Crazy they still can’t get it right after so many months. Wish we would have chose differently for the holidays. Especially since the Sun cost more to sail on.

We spent 21 nights on Sun Princess and have to say as loyal Princess cruisers Sun is by far the worst ship we have ever sailed on she looks beautiful but thats where it ends the main pool area is way to small for a ship that size crowded all day and not once were we able to get a deck chair there as people were claiming them as early as 6 in the morning also hardly ever had Movies under the stars instead loud thumping music all day long inside its so crowded everywhere and none of the bars really have there own space its all open plan with ques of people walking past all the time while you are trying to have a drink the atrium is just loud music all the time so much so it can be heard in other parts of the ship people with cabins near by complained they couldnt sleep because of it The ship feels like Princess trying to be a Carnival fun ship its a crowded party ship in reality

I feel like a lot of cruise ship critiques are nit picky. Your points seem reasonable to me.

Regarding the trade-off of the shower curtains for shower doors… I’m in the minority here. Because the bathroom was so tight, I had to really suck it in to get out of the shower and onto the bathmat. I heard that some bigger guys actually had to have the bathroom door open just to be able to get out of the shower.

While I am glad I tried her out it just wasn't for me. I'm Princess loyal,but they really missed the mark with her. In my personal opinion they really sacrificed the elegance and the space Princess is known for. I'm not even going to try the Star when it comes out and stick with the royal class instead.

Sounds like every other new ship that gets launched, lots of growing pains! If I choose to book onto a new ship I always wait a year as I'm doing on the Sun. I try to look at things in a positive light too, if you look for issues, trust me you will find them!

This is exactly why we wait at least One year before we go on new ships. GIVE THEM TIME TO WORK OUT THE KINKS!!!

My husband and I thought the same thing regarding the entertainment. We tried to see a show in the Dome. Our family was already there and we got there a few minutes early, but they wouldn’t let us in. They said it was full 😭 We also thought Princess Live was small. I didn’t like the design of it

I’ll stick to the older and smaller Princess ships for that “Princess” experience. I just sailed on Emerald, and my only complaint was that the volume level in the theater and the piazza was too loud.

Thank you. Apparently you can't take a travel kettle on board ! I'm just one of those who like a cuppa when I wake up, not an hour later when I'm showered and dressed etc. I will book via room service or ask for a kettle x
