And I would also ask about salary once you’re completed your residency? I want to before a vet so bad but the videos I’ve seen say that they don’t get paid very much and I really don’t want to be drowning in debt

Hi, I had a question, my school requires me to take the Hesi A2 exam to get into the program for vet tech. Everywhere online I see it’s mostly for nursing students, did you have to take something similar?

Hey, lovely insightful video! I'm about to go to the British version of this conference in October (BVNA Congress). I noticed you said vet tech and vet nurse, what's the difference in America if you don't mind me asking? In the UK we have VCA's (Vet Care Assistants), Registered Vet Nurses (RVN) and Vet Surgeons (VS). I'm a student vet nurse!

I am SO jelous. That is an amazing opportunity you got to do, and in Las Vegas 🎉😲 A fun exciting place to go to. I didn't know that RVTs would get to have these opportunities like that. I sure look forward to my opportunity when I get the chance 😌 This would also be a great opportunity for me to count those credits for continued educational courses in our careers (as you mentioned in the video). I could tell how exhausted you were during your trip. It really excited me to see how many continued education courses we could take in this career and got my satisfaction by the note-taking as well 😌 Can't forget that coffee as well to keep us going every day 🤣 My family and I go to Disneyland every few months or so constantly having that "go" mindset, making us completely exhausted when coming back from the park 🤣😴 I hope your health has been doing a lot better, and I'm sure you're free of COVID by now since you posted this video two months ago 😛 Until your next video ❣️

With a 79% (C). VT 111: Anatomy-Physiology of Animals is being put on hold until the fall of 2025 due to staff issues 😢 But, I'm in no rush in my life and school. So, I'll be starting my next major and career choice in Sociology as a Sociologist! I am looking forward to your next video to come 😄

Overtime, I guess you can say I lost hope, but I have now been in the field for 4 years on/off and just recently had I started looking into studying again to try to become registered. I truly hope this time I stay true, as it is my passion, so thank you for your pointers!

when you get aggressive animals, especially with big dogs, how do you guys handle it? do you muzzle them, or wear protective gloves? is it only one person that handles aggressive animals? i’m curious, i’d like to apply to be a kennel tech!
@everythingmikayla
@everythingmikayla 7 ай бұрын
Definitely depends on the clinic and their experience! If we know they’re aggressive, we have them come in with meds on board. If they become aggressive while they’re getting examined, we put a big muzzle on them just to keep everyone safe. Theres also fear-free hospitals that might do things differently!

is there a difference between a registered vet tech and just a vet tech?
@everythingmikayla

It just depends on the state. Some states you have to registered in order to call yourself a vet tech, others you don’t :)

I work as a CNA making $15 an hour, but with tons of overtime. I'm in Penn Fosters Vet Tech program for personal reasons. My job is going to pay for my Med Tech course (its one month) and I'll be at $17.50. I'm also signing up for Pharmacy Tech online as well. If I work as an RVT, in my area the pay is $20-$25 an hour. I plan on working PRN as a CNA/MT and PRN as a RPT (Registered Pharm Tech) if needed for extra money. Being a CNA is toxic and drama to the max. I can handle vet med.

VetMed has by far been the most toxic and drama-filled job I’ve ever had, including when I worked retail with teenage girls high school girls. As much as I love the job itself, the environment can be truly awful. Lots of older egotistical people

I worked as a RVT and my top pay was $18.25 an hour! I faced bullying and drama in the veterinary profession. I got totally fed up from all the damn drama from other RVT’s and being yelled at by the DVM’s. I went back to college and I got my degree as a Certified Surgical Technologist and when I started working at my local hospital my starting salary as a new CST was $29.00 an hour. I absolutely love this new career and I get the recognition and respect from the RN’s and surgeons.

Hey I just wanted to share with you I really appreciate hearing your story and I saw your first video too. Today was a pretty bad day that I got fired as a kennel assistant and thought something was wrong with me for not exceeding expectations even though I followed everything you told me to do and I always checked in with them to make sure I didn’t do it wrong to not get in trouble for anything. I still got fired because apparently I was asking him too many questions and shouldn’t be talking to the technicians or veterinarians basically communicating with them if I can clean the exam rooms once they were done or not. Especially since I would be cleaning outside for the front and back of the hospital they told me I needed to clean all the way to the sidewalk where the street was which I didn’t think about it and know. So today I got fired when that happened and the take away that I got from it that really personally hit me was how the manager told me that I shouldn’t be communicating with anyone at the hospital but I should be a ghost. Then told him that this would ever be a good fit for me to work in a veterinary hospital since I want to be a veterinarian and he said to have a more open mindset with being more aware of my surroundings when cleaning. Since this is my first job working as a kennel assistant which I had no experience only volunteering at a animal shelter only teaching me a few things I felt that they were expecting the most highest experience that it did not make sense to me why are they were expecting so much in the short amount of time because I was only working there twice a week for about 6-7 hours minimum wage (part time) and had been working there for about two weeks. Honestly I left crying today and thinking that this dream of mine to be a veterinarian isn’t it because I got fired. I’m willing to take ownership of things I can improve on in the vet field overall even with me not being perfect in the position in the most shortest period of time only working those four shifts I would always try my hardest and would always comply with what they would tell me to do when it came to certain things to get done. Just hearing your story really made me feel that wasn’t the healthiest for me and I shouldn’t give up on my dream career. 🥺 Thank you.
