@@agniforma2340 the bike wss built on commission for a friend and I've never ridden it although it sounded amazing when we ran it up for the first time. I'd stay clear of the 190 section rear tyre if it were mine, the geometry, weight etc just doesn't need it. Share your build please, that sounds awesome! 😀

how did you fit the ymaha swingarm? what axle did you use. rs or yamaha one
@stevenwilson97512 жыл бұрын
Hi, the aprilia bearings and end caps were put into the yam swingarm. Original aprilia spindle was used and custom spacers made to line things up.
@maxkatana.85552 жыл бұрын
cool thanks for your fast answer. Did you change something on the front brake or fork?
@stevenwilson97512 жыл бұрын
The front brake was fine with braided hose and sintered pads. Forks are a strange setup with one for damping and one for compression. It had a stiffer compression spring fitted and slightly heavier oil in both. They worked ok for road use and the little time it was on track
@stevenwilson97512 жыл бұрын
A note worthy of pointing out, the whole rear shock mount on the frame was cut out and relocated to the centre as the original is off to the right.

@stevenwilson97512 жыл бұрын
Hi, the aluminium was 6061 grade. All spacers, plugs, adapters etc were hand made on my milling machine and lathe. The Zx6r rear shock was used because its fully adjustable, damped well for my style and I had one in my parts bin with a selection of race springs already to hand 😀

They are very capable bikes, yes they lack bhp compared to some, but they produce very linear power and the chassis is excellent. Going up in value now as people are realising just how good they are :)

Hi mate, there's plenty of 2 strokes for sale here and there but not many "bargains" left as everyone knows what they are worth now. My RS has just been rebuilt as a 325cc so hopefully the BHP will be around 70plus when it gets Dyno'd this weekend..... if your 125 is making 34, keep it and ride it mate! That's useful power for such a lightweight bike and would give a few bigger bikes a good fight 😁

I've seen all your build pics, but I'm not quite sure how much of an air filter you're able to run with the ram air airbox?
@stevenwilson97516 жыл бұрын
Hi, I can't measure it without taking the tank off etc but it has a removable dual foam filter (from Ramair) that is approx 200mmx150mm and fully sealed to avoid leakage. The filter works very well and when cleaned just the other week, it had caught various bugs, a piece of gravel after I'd had it off track at Donington, and various rubber marbles :) One of the pictures shows the filter and frame setup
@Gornflyin6 жыл бұрын
That's OK. I did see it in one pic, but wasn't sure if it was a made to measure or a home made one. Do you have a link to where I could purchase one?
@stevenwilson97516 жыл бұрын
Ahh, ok. The filter foam was purchased from Ramair as a "universal" piece of foam that you would cut to suit. I made the aluminium filter housing and it bolts to rivnuts fitted inside the airbox. HTH

ok, cool. Thanks for the info. :)

Hi, the swingarm is from a YZFR125 but the conversion wasn't easy at all. The whole of the rear frame mountings for suspension and engine were cut away and re-positioned. The bike rode and handled very well though :)
@ricardo16876 жыл бұрын
thank you mate does it vibrate too much?
@stevenwilson97516 жыл бұрын
It vibrates a little on tickover and low RPM due to the huge carbs unable to deliver fuel/air smoothly but once on the move, it isn't a problem at all

hey I have an aprilia rs 50 from 2009y. Just wanted to know is it possible to set an yamaha rd 350 ypvs machine in the chassis of rs ? any thoughts ?
@stevenwilson97516 жыл бұрын
Hi, anything is possible with time, money and effort. Probably not a wise decision though as the RS 50 frame isn't as well made as it's bigger brothers. The 125 chassis are cheap enough and well worth thinking about as long as you consider the chain being on the wrong side with standard swinging arm.
