I use capture mostly for architectural lighting. Most buildings have 90-degree angles, but as creativity and engineering collide the buildings have become more challenging. I work mostly in SketchUp to create or import the models, then import into Capture. This Swing to Selection command seems to works well with trusses, but I am working with 3D models of buildings. One of my architectural lighting projects has sixteen different faces of various orientations. Nothing is square. When I try to use this command on the 3D model, the Swing to Selection command is greyed-out. What am I doing wrong?

Hellooo, I'd like to ask if this app can be used for painting references. I'm looking for something with a manageable learning curve, and can allow me to create VERY basic setups just for accurate life-like light references. For example a basic colored background, with a colored cube or a sphere right in the middle with several colored light sources. And if possible textures like metal, wood, plastic etc.. ;-; that's really all I'm looking for, so I'm wondering if it's just for making fancy complicated stuff that I don't need :')

When I add anything besides a source 4, I'm trying to add a chauvet 4 bar, it does not allow me to visualize or turn it on.. Why. will it not light if it isn't patched?

The part where HDRI it can cast ambient light to the model are awesome!!! But did I miss something? it doesn't scale with zoom, so interaction with background feels very unnatural. HDRI item doesn't have scale property. maybe I use it wrong, but how awesome it can be if I use my 360 camera to capture openair stage surrounding, or venue interior and see it in capture. or even better able to add gaussian splat for example from Luma IA. its 2024 why not) and who knows, maybe one day, just maybe we will have bouncing light reflection and real light reflection and mirrors! in real time... like in Unreal Engine 5....

This is a really great feature, but I do wish that the ability to have the rotate tool apply rotations to the object axis rather than the view axis would be AMAZING. I can't explain how many hours I've spent un-rotating, re-rotating over and over while switching views. It's especially frustrating when you've already patched or added fixture information and you need to do a bunch of rotations on an angled rig. If you do your rotation fixes on half of the rig and want to mirror... that's too bad. you need to do the whole operation all over again.

is there a way to render the cables? i had a project recently where we used a lot of rope (as a scenography) which i have now drawn in capture using the cable tool. in the custom view mode they are visible in 3D but not in the live view... I undersatnd this might be a niche use case but it actually is the second time i have this issue. Last time i solved it by making my own 3D cables, but then i lack the nice features of Capture being able to tell me the lengt and such...

Maybe also handy to explain how to unpatch after patching (We all make patch mistakes from time to time and doing it manualy for 120 fixtures seems a bit unnecesairy the problem is im here trying to unpatch universes for 2 hours and don't find much online... not even written in the manual..
