235/75r15 is the max and perfect size for the Bronco II. And, it's safer to use this size as it increases the width slightly. And everyone knows why they took em off the road. Gj on the paint, but you should look up the original oem aluminum rims for em for the best look👌

I had a big bronco that had the aluminum wheels on it so I do like those pretty good but I’m also a big fan of steelies.

Thanks for the tip on the Walmart tires deal! How did the fitment of the tires work out in the front? Any rubbing while turning?

I have an 88, rebuilt the top end like this a long time ago, except I painted my manifold ford blue like the valve covers and made the lettering white. Parked it 10 years ago with 574k miles on the odometer. It ran fine up until I parked it but I let it overheat one time by accident and it had coolant in the oil. Which from what I understand means the lower end bearings have to be replaced at that point along with the new head gaskets. the 2.9 is a terrible motor, not much power and a bad torque curve, unreliable at best with the stupid TFI module on the back of the distributor on the back of the motor, prone to head cracking and rod bearings that will spin out easily if oil is contaminated. I was planning on putting in a 5.0 HO motor out of a mountaineer or a mustang but just ran out of time, money, and energy. It sits in my backyard collecting rust and dust now with no interior and no windshield (was cracked, had it removed to work on a roll cage and dash). Thinking about selling whats left of the truck along with the cut and turned beams I bought for it.

I’ve had good luck out of my motor so far but with the age of the vehicle I also know that could change. It’s definitely not a power house but it’s all I need to putt around town.

I bought an ‘88 XLT with an alleged 4,500 original miles but it’s been struggling to lose an intermittent loss of power problem. Compression’s fine, replaced every electronic sensor and module and every part of the fuel system. Still doesn’t run right, at a loss.
@JunkTrucks
@JunkTrucks 21 күн бұрын
I don’t remember how off the top of my head but there is a way to get these trucks to ignore all of the sensors and run strictly off of a set amount of numbers in the computer. I know when I was fighting my truck I was able for it to do that so I could rule out other issues. I learned that on a forum that’s out there somewhere, don’t give up you’ll get it.

Nice! Just had this idea because I basically fully outfitted my scx24 bronco. It’s completely upgraded besides axels and chassis. Basically saves money since you’re gonna upgrade it anyway so you’re saving money in the long run by not buying the bone stock rtr. Thanks for making this video. And for everyone seeing this in 2024. Prices changed now of course but they’re not far off from when this vid was posted. And everything is easily available now and they have way cooler chassis kits now such as the meus ripper and meus mb24 kits which will save you money on buying the chassis and body since it’s all in one. Plus it’ll give your rig a 10x boost in coolness. And injora is stepping up the game and have TX and RX and esc kits for a cheap price. Lots of cool goodies now a days. Good luck everyone!

Cool ride, and a good way to learn about all things automotive. I've had a couple of B2's. They used to be really cheap to pick up, and with minimal work they are a decent wheeler.

@KarinesGarage
@KarinesGarage 2 ай бұрын
The floatyness of the truck is mainly due to the way the twin beam front suspension is done: it naturally pushes up the front instead of dampening bumps and dips. Also, adding another leaf in the back end helps a lot to level up the truck. New shocks would help you out. I need to change mine out too.😂 There's no cubby in the back left because if you specced your B2 to have an internal spare tire, it was mounted on the driver side. The 2.9l heads were fixed on the 1990 version, which i recommend everyone to get, or AT LEAST switch to a lower temp thermostat to keep it cooler. The fix to the top heavy-ness, you run the biggest tires that you can fit without altering the body, which is 235 75 r15. You can also run a 1" wheel spacer which helps the stability as well. I agree with pretty much everything that you said in the video. I can't wait to finish mine on my channel. ❤ Cheers!

I was also dumb enough to purchase a 1988 B2 for a daily. Similar issues, replaced the entire ignition system suspecting module problems but mine turned out to be the high pressure fuel pump itself
