Don't count calories, count carbs and eat real food. It takes time to adjust and work out what your body likes. But I lost all the weight I needed to four years ago. Avoiding sugar (most fruit included) was the key. Whatever the authorities advise to eat, I mainly do the opposite

Ive been wondering, i never think about food, i dont really care about food. But ive been obese since 1st grade. Maybe i used to use food to feel better, but i never think about food. Metabolic syndrome, insulin resistance and a comically low bmr, would this help someone like me? I wonder.
@HollysWeigh3 күн бұрын
@@maximilian9295 it sounds like it could help. The food noise reduction is very nice if you deal with that, but it’s not the only thing that this does. Even just helping the insulin resistance would likely help with weight loss. I’m not a doctor, obviously, but I would talk to your doctor about trying it. You sound like you have a lot of symptoms that these injections can help.

I am starting to get loose skin on neck after just 27 lbs lost.Im going slowly. I'm still on 5mg after 3.5 mos..not in a hurry to go up or faster. Do you have hair loss? My friend went from 225 to 160 and now has hair loss and still on 10mg. Her Dr said she needs to go into maintenance now. She's 5'4 too.
@HollysWeigh3 күн бұрын
@@victoriariley7490 yes that neck skin is no joke. I am trying everything imaginable right now to get it to go away. I just started using body firm crêpe erase so I’ll let you know how that goes. Someone recommended go pure neck firming cream, and said that was really good. So if body firm doesn’t do much then I will maybe try that. Yes I do have hair loss. Unfortunately my hair loss started way before this, though. I’m genetically predisposed to it and started losing my hair after I had kids. I have used nutrafol over the last six months and have noticed a major improvement though.

I have a buddy taking Ozempic. His health was bad before he started. High blood pressure and diabetes. I tried to get him to cook healthy meals at home for years. He dines out for every meal and it's killing him. When he first starting taking the meds, the burping and smell was terrible. He has lost weight and doesn't want certain things like golden graham cereal. I've put on weight due to menopause and an easy life. I'm sure I can get the shots but I'm afraid of the side effects. So for now, I'm trying traditional methods of being healthy.
@HollysWeigh3 күн бұрын
I have heard a lot of people talk about the sulfur burps. That food sits in your system longer and takes longer to digest on the meds, so it can cause more gas to form. Some people have said it goes away pretty quickly once they adjust to the medication. I personally never have had them, but I remember the smell from chemistry class! Yuck. I hope your friend is able to make some changes and get his health on track! Unfortunately, the shot isn’t a cure all. It’s just a tool. Good luck on your own weight loss journey! If you do decide to try the shots, just start low and slow to see if you have any side effects. You may be one of the lucky ones :)

Congrats on your weight loss! Some people tend to lose without trying and others seem to really struggle even with the shot. I will have to research that a little bit and see if I can find any information on why that happens. I do know that they were originally made for diabetes and the weight loss was a happy side effect, so maybe it’s something to do with how insulin resistant you are when you start them. Hate calling them weight loss injections because they aren’t actually a weight loss injection. Weight loss is a side effect. They are to treat obesity, metabolic dysfunction, regulate insulin, mimic hormones in our gut most obese folks are deficient in. They put us on a level playing field regulating our hormones so we can actually lose the weight. Obese bodies are metabolically broken …. as you said its so many things, obesity is very complex. Calling them weight loss injections diminishes what they actually do. Its not magic. We still have to work out, eat in a calorie deficit and its a life long battle when you have chronic obesity. Unfortunately most of society doesn’t acknowledge that its a disease. Yes, we do have to deal with the cards we were dealt and take responsibility, but treating it with a medication or even surgery to help us is definitely not cheating. Thats just fat bias talking. People are just ignorant and refuse to educate themselves about obesity because again… fat bias and diet culture.
@HollysWeigh3 күн бұрын
Bingo. Great comment, thank you! They have been dubbed weight loss injections by everyone, but you are right. The weight loss is just a side effect of the other issues being corrected in the body.

I don’t judge anyone for taking it. An “easier” way out is a nice thing. But I do worry about the health ramifications. Why do we care? Because of inequality I guess. Only rich Americans can afford it, whereas poor people in developing countries where people rely on poor diet so much may never afford it. Also, fairness - lots people work hard to lose weight, now people with access could just inject and get thin. So yeah, it’s a touchy subject because of the two reasons I guess.
@HollysWeigh7 күн бұрын
My hope is that these things are one day affordable to everyone. I don’t know how true it is, but I’ve heard that it’s only $5 to make the med, but they charge the consumer crazy prices. Some of these meds are also sold in other countries quite a bit cheaper than the U.S. I hope that we eventually get to that here so more people have access.

First, new to your channel and Subscribed. Can’t wait to follow your journey. Second, I had “Stomach Staples” done back in 1998. I weighed 680 at that point. I lost down to 330 and then slowly started gaining. Flash forward to 1/10/22 and I was 595. I tried “diet & exercise” for 8 months and lost 35# only before being introduced to Mounjaro. Between it and now Zepbound, since 9/2/22 I’ve lost a total of 242#. This medication is life changing as you know. It’s helped me do what no surgery could and that is change me in a profound way. My relationship with food is different, I enjoy exercising (well, not the physical act, but the feeling I get knowing I did lol). Your story was very touching, thank you for taking the time to share it with us. ❤

People who don’t understand why there’s a need for these medications will always feel like it’s the “easy way out”. It comes down to them simply not being educated enough. For most people (leaving the Hollywood-types out of this), these medications supply our bodies with something biologically. I have lost 242# on Mounjaro/Zepbound in just over 2 years. I’ve tried dang near everything thru the years and nothing has done for me what a GLP-1 can and has done. My life has changed so much for the better. Food has gone from the front of my mind to the back and in most cases it’s an after thought. I literally have days where I have to remind myself I have to eat. These medications have allowed me to lose enough weight to where I can safely exercise now and I crave my treadmill time! People who don’t understand typically do not care to learn either and that’s on them, not those of us changing out lives. ❤

Thank you for watching! I’ve found I have more nausea now that my dose is higher. Especially the day right after I inject. The longer I’m on it, the less nausea I have as my body adjusts. It sounds weird, but what really helps me is putting an alcohol pad under my nose and smelling it for a bit. I have theories on why, but I’m not completely sure. I also have some prescription nausea meds that I take once in a while. But I’m finding I need that less and less. I’ve been on the 15mg about a month now. I hope you are able to stick with it! Hmm… you do actually have some control over dose on name brand. Shot location, for one. For some ppl, some shot locations hit harder or softer than others. If you’ve tracked results in-depth, you probably know already if this is true for you, and how much so. 💉 Also, ‘shot cycle’. Could temporarily stretch it out to 8 or 9 days between injections instead of 7, which would lower the amount of meds in your system a bit, and let you more quickly ‘get used to’ the new dose. Obviously clear with your doctor first. 🧑⚕️ Best of luck. ‘Big Daddy 15’ does hit hard at first. 👋

There are vids on how to put the dose in a vial then use diabetic needles to inject. Then you could use 2 pens and split into 3 smaller doses. AND 3 months of pens could give you 4 months of shots
@HollysWeigh5 күн бұрын
Have you done this? I asked my doctor about it last year because my dose wasn’t available, and I wanted to get a higher dose and just split it. But she said it would destroy the peptides when I hit the button on the pen and put it into a vial. She said they wouldn’t be as effective when I went to inject it with a regular insulin needle. I haven’t looked into it anymore than that. But wondering if you have tried it and had any issues?
@edsmale5 күн бұрын
@ I have not as my dose is always available. I’ve used compounded before, that involves vials. They have to inject it into the vial somehow, I don’t see it destroying the med, it worked fine for me then. KZbin won’t let me post links I guess. Search “Florida concierge medicine”. It’s a bald black guy. He is a dr who has a glp clinic, and he splits dose in clinic with his own patients. Once you find him, click videos, the 3rd newest video is step by step guide on splitting doses. Links to supplies needed to split the pens dose. What’s the worst that can happen, you have 1 pen/week that isn’t effective. If it works, you can split dose and have less side effects

How long did you take to get up to 15mg? How did you know you needed to go up?
@HollysWeighАй бұрын
@nerdincubator it took me 10 months to work my way up to the 15mg. My doctor and I made the decision to move up each time based on the return of food noise/cravings, no side effects on the dose I was taking and weight loss stall. If I was still losing 5 pounds or so within the month, she would recommend that I stay on the current dosing. I have found that my body tends to stall for a bit for a few weeks when I change doses. So there were times that I had only been on a dose for 2-3 weeks and had to decide to move up or stay on a dose. Since I wasn’t losing I would opt to move up. But I wish I had stayed on the same dose instead. I figured this out once I moved up to 7.5mg. So I wish I had stayed on 2.5mg and 5mg longer. Hope that helps!
