I've got a 2013 m109r limited and your review is great. I love my bike and have thrown a lot of miles on it, from commuting, to parking lot slow speed stuff to crazy fast and it's always a blast. Get an ecu flash and you might need an exorcist for it. 😂 Happy to see another Christian motorcycle channel, God bless!

Thanks for checking out the channel, and for the feedback :). I left this video long since it's a long term ride review, and I don't have many of those on the channel, most of my other vids are much shorter though. I do have a harder riding video coming out soon as well, I hit Wildcat mountain yesterday on my Street Triple RS, what an absolute blast that was!!

It seems that you're a new rider. When you talk about the brakes but focus on the "Rear brake" that pretty much what inexperience riders use, because it's more gentle. Go about 35 or more mph and jam on the rear brakes. Watch how long your skid mark is. At riding speed rear brakes alone will not stop you. It will lock the rear tire but you will keep moving forward. Either the front brake or both will stop you. Rear brakes are more gentle but will not stop you. And the front brakes could've stopped you sooner if you squeezed it harder. Practice using the front brakes "Primarily", If you keep relying on the rear brake you will get hurt. Just FYI. And I've had 2 M109s so I'm pretty familiar with it.
@PastorMattMoto

Hi thanks for the concern and tips! :). I've been riding a few years, but most of my experience is on sportbikes and naked bikes. On a true sportbike like a Daytona 675 or such, the braking can be as much as 90/10 front brake weighted, but big heavy cruisers like the M109R can be up to 60/40. You are right, the front brake is always the most important for stopping power, no matter what machine you are on. I talked about the rear brake alot because I do like a nice smooth rear brake for trail braking, not a wooden feeling pedal, like I've experienced on some bikes. Also the M109R's rear tire loves to slide if you downshift and let the clutch out too quickly, as I'm sure you've noticed on both of yours...there's no slipper clutch! lol

Great review, this is my deram bike but it’s so expensive in my country Malaysia, a 2014 will cost around 11 thousand US dollars and there are just not that many for sale in the market. At any one time, there are probably 3 or 4 for sale in the whole country and those are the high mileage ones. I’m still not giving up though, I’m saving up and hopefully will find a good one once I have enough saved up

If you don’t know you should scrub brand new tires in before doing a "tire review," you probably shouldn’t be reviewing tires.
@PastorMattMoto
@PastorMattMoto 18 күн бұрын
@WILDMAN87 I've heard that new tires no longer have the type or amount of material on them that need to be scrubbed off to the degree that they used to back in the day. That being said, I still do swerve scrubbing on new tires, and take it easy for the first 50 miles or so, just to be safe. I've had a lot of new tires put on at this point, and I've never had a problem with this method. To be totally honest these dunlop Mutants on this specific bike never felt good, even after hundreds of miles of all types of riding. I absolutely loved these on the R1150R that I put them on though. I'm not sure if they were just a bad match for this bike, but it was weird. They did not give good corner confidence on this machine, even after many miles. For contrast the Rosso 4 tires on the street triple I currently have feel completely planted and on rails. Difference in geometry and size between the two bikes are a factor of course, as well.

The ZX14 was definitely faster than the Busa I had on the channel here, but to be fair, the busa had it's rear sprocket swapped for more top end by the previous owner. Those old conventionally mounted 6 pot brakes were very wooden feeling. I had the K3 GSXR1000, which is the forst year of the radial mounted brakes, much, much better. That year also had a pad per piston. Try different pads and steal braided lines.
@PastorMattMoto
@PastorMattMoto 20 күн бұрын
Yeah these brakes do get the bike stopped, but lack a bit of feel compared to newer brembo systems and such. The feel of the brakes on the GSXS 750 I bought this year reminds me a bit of the busa brakes as well. Neither one really has much initial bite, but they do get you stopped fine. If I was going to keep either of them as long term machines, you are right, steel braided brakes lines would be an excellent way to go. I was looking at some of the Spiegler options actually.

I'm 70 now brought my first bike at 13 after working for over a year to save up, nearly fell off the perch a year ago ( Australian for dieing) but I did meet both God and the Devil while in a coma for about 5 days. God was so beautiful and pure with the most vivid white light you can possibly imagine. I told the Devil my heart and soul belongs to the lord . And I'm still enjoying all the wonderful family and friends and my animals that God has given me. That is quite a few miles! I've heard of these motors going around 200,000 though. If the bike is clean otherwise and priced really reasonable, I would say you could get some more riding out of it. If you have a good local independent mechanic, I would give them a call and see if they can do a compression test for you, and give the bike a good once over. :)

Idk, I think the best mix is gonna be a 600-800cc 3 or 4 cylinder. Anything smaller than that and you have no power. Anything bigger than that and you'll never have any reason to use the remaining 5 gears, which is honestly a waste of money. I paid for the gearbox, i'd like to use all of it, not necessarily ride at the speed of light in first gear lol

So you can get your ECU reflashed and it will completely get rid of the "snatchiness" of the throttle, which I'd recommend. Normally I don't like the idea of modifying the stock ECU, but because of emissions laws, and the EPA, some bikes are super snatchy when rolling onto the throttle at certain RPM's, especially in lower gears, and when going around a corner. The snatchiness can actually be dangerous when doing low speed turns. I'd strongly suggest never using the friction zone. You're obviously a smart rider, but I wouldn't risk putting any stress on the clutch, because you are dealing with 118 ft lbs of torque on that bike. The shared oil of the engine and clutch, means that the engine oil gets sheared by the clutch, and the more you slip it, the more clutch particles you'll get in your engine oil. It's actually a lucky miracle that the stock clutch can handle the torque as it is!
@PastorMattMoto
@PastorMattMoto 28 күн бұрын
Yeah its a pretty temperamental beast isn't it? No slipper clutch means you really need to be careful with quick downshifts, so you don't lock up the rear wheel! It seems like quite a few bikes suffer from snatchy throttles these days, due to the emissions laws. The only one that has been super smooth for me is the 765 Street Triple, they are like butter stock.
