Yeah I did. But not without lifting the engine about 20 cm (8 inches) off the motor mounts, a few skinned knuckles and a week's worth of swear words!

I thought fuel makes rtv swell?
@creativerevamp Жыл бұрын
The RTV used was the type used for fuel systems. I'm not sure if it will still swell when it comes in contact with fuel, but I'm assuming it's not a bad thing if it's sealing the threads of that fitting. I hope

Can you rotate the bottom half of the fuel pump to clear the power steering and other stuff etc?
@creativerevamp Жыл бұрын
Hi mate, yeah you can. I made a mistake that it's 25 lb/ft of torque on the housing bolts. But it is 25 in/lb. You'll need a vice or clamp to keep it together when clocking the housing.

Great car mate, and that is some quality backyard mechaniking! I picked up a '67 Gal this year myself and I'm interested to hear how you got on, did you get yours on the road? Oh, and I lost it when you copped your head on the bonnet pin, I've lost count of the number of times I've done that 🤣

I think you were supposed to torque the bolts to 25 inch lbs, not 25 ft lbs. If you did torque to 25 ft lbs, does it work correctly?
@creativerevamp3 жыл бұрын
You are correct. I did over torque them. I havenabout 4 hrs of run time with that set up. I did back them off and re set them. It'll still runs no problems, but the diaphragm might wear quicker. Thanks for pointing it out, it pays to double check the instructions 😉

@@creativerevamp thanks! I keep having a few drips from it on my garage floor and the seal, not the diaphragm, is wet. I honestly don’t even see how to replace it if I took the pump out. Might have to replace it or bandaid some silicone on it.
@creativerevamp3 жыл бұрын
I received a reply from edelbrock. They don't sell spares, which I though was a bit rough. What seal is leaking? Is it fuel lines or the block?
@Aerondighteternal3 жыл бұрын
@@creativerevamp honestly I’m not sure. I wiped it all off and cleaned the area. Next time I drive I’m gonna have to watch it close when I park it. It might be a fitting because I see Teflon tape on a fitting, which the manual says to not use tape and instead liquid Teflon. If you see my channel I don’t drive it too often lol

I used the red permatex gasket maker around the threads. I haven't had any issues yet, but I'll hold judgement until it fully cure and settle. The pack says it's good for that application though.

Do you have part numbers for the throttle cable, bracket, and kickdown?
@creativerevamp5 жыл бұрын
Hi mate, I bought the throttle cable bracket from summit part number LOK-SRK-4000, the kick down cable was from eBay part number KD-20C6HT. The kick down cable had the additional bracket that matched the throttle cable bracket, but you will need that throttle cable bracket for the kick down cable assembly. The throttle cable came with the car when I picked it up. But I will look for the lokar part number that matches it. Let me know if you need any more info. I'm more than happy to help.

Hello.. My name is German.. My brother has a 1967 galaxie 500 with the 390 engine.. I was wondering if you still have the old kick down rod you took off your car.. Like to know if you want to sell it. I'm interested in it so I can give it to my brother for his car.. Thank you..

Keep it up dude! I was thinking maybe something is up between the mechanical fuel pump and the cam. If the previous owner put an aftermarket cam in there maybe that is causing the poor sending/pressure? Or like you mentioned with the dry diaphragm, maybe its kinda shot? You could check your fuel pressure with a pressure gauge. I'm guessing it should be around 6 or 7 psi. That's was it was in my 85 302 HO. Thought that was a Windsor not an FE. Shouldn't be far off though and it would tell you if it is indeed the pump. If you have pressure, maybe check to make sure you have enough vacuum. If you have a leak somewhere or even a wrong hook up that could cause the carb to not operate properly.

@nicholasvaos55615 жыл бұрын
Nice work getting it running man! Bet the leak is coming from the water pump housing gasket. Sometimes when a fuel system is dry you need to prime things like you said. Another place to put fuel is the top spout on the carb to fill the bowls. Pumps are bad at pumping while dry haha.

@@creativerevamp Very excited! I will, like yours mine is not running though it is completely stock and not been run since the 80's so im expecting a bit more headache getting it running. Though being in Canada it does have a bit more rust which is likely to be my main battle. Luckily the frame is in good shape! Also a heads up if you are not familiar with rockauto . com, they have plenty of parts for us ball joints tie rod ends and such for a good price. Also fuel system parts as well as cooling system parts.
