Installing the edelbrock performer mechanical fuel pump on an FE 390.

Can you rotate the bottom half of the fuel pump to clear the power steering and other stuff etc?

Hi mate, yeah you can. I made a mistake that it's 25 lb/ft of torque on the housing bolts. But it is 25 in/lb. You'll need a vice or clamp to keep it together when clocking the housing.

I thought fuel makes rtv swell?

The RTV used was the type used for fuel systems. I'm not sure if it will still swell when it comes in contact with fuel, but I'm assuming it's not a bad thing if it's sealing the threads of that fitting. I hope

I think you were supposed to torque the bolts to 25 inch lbs, not 25 ft lbs. If you did torque to 25 ft lbs, does it work correctly?

You are correct. I did over torque them. I havenabout 4 hrs of run time with that set up. I did back them off and re set them. It'll still runs no problems, but the diaphragm might wear quicker. Thanks for pointing it out, it pays to double check the instructions 😉

I think mine is leaking from the seal. Do you know if they sell them?

I've looked into this too and cant find anything. I'll ask the manufacturer and keep you posted

@@creativerevamp thanks! I keep having a few drips from it on my garage floor and the seal, not the diaphragm, is wet. I honestly don’t even see how to replace it if I took the pump out. Might have to replace it or bandaid some silicone on it.

I received a reply from edelbrock. They don't sell spares, which I though was a bit rough. What seal is leaking? Is it fuel lines or the block?

@@creativerevamp honestly I’m not sure. I wiped it all off and cleaned the area. Next time I drive I’m gonna have to watch it close when I park it. It might be a fitting because I see Teflon tape on a fitting, which the manual says to not use tape and instead liquid Teflon. If you see my channel I don’t drive it too often lol

I used the red permatex gasket maker around the threads. I haven't had any issues yet, but I'll hold judgement until it fully cure and settle. The pack says it's good for that application though.
