That kind of excursion is a lot more fun with 2 or 3 companions to urge each other along.

Thank you for sharing this! I spent 32yrs on the upper Wash River (Salmon and Dougan Falls area mostly) and miss it incredibly. As a kid hunting agates was the best rainy day adventure I could have. I still have a decent box full of beauties. lol Seeing this brought back special memories of the forests in the Great Northwet. I'm living in SW desert now. Finding this video was like getting an unexpected postcard from the past. TY

I’ll trade you a bottle of whiskey made at the Distillarium to show me an agate spot on the river canyon 😂 And I’d show you a few secret rockhound spots I found up there exploring myself. No good agates yet. But lots of pretty opal.

The agates are nice and large! I've found tiny mini pebbles. I would call the marks "pitting".

I spent a whole summer on the Washougal River in 1982. Unfortunately that was a long time ago. Long before I even knew what an agate was. I did find some arrowheads though.

Some of that looks like banded chert, or flint. I am from Washington, but not familiar with red top, buried in like that it is very hard to tell, but looks sedimentary not igneous, that would determine whether agate or chert

Good question. I think I read that small needle like crystals form very tightly together and fuse together to make the bubble shapes but I’m not super sure that I’m correct haha that’s my current understanding 😄

So I didn't get to go until last week. I checked those Tree wells that blew down on the way down saw nothing. Did find a little creek with material. I have another location not too far from here if you wanna check it out. Do you know anything about the channels that run through it the bottom? Or the Shaft looking pit filled with water?!?! Gunnar?
