@KiwiKaimoana6 күн бұрын
It's actually one of those plastic tube's those voost vitamin b fizzy tablet things... with some elastic cord. However what I found works better is...just cut a section of garden hose about 20cm long. Put that over end of speargun. Garden hose works better.

You should probably watch my big dive talk video too. It's the one that's 56 minutes long. I spend time in that video breaking down the costs involved in spearfishing and boating. It's information that I wish I had when starting out spearfishing

Good to get the info out there. I have heard that Tasmanian kelp forests are failing because of warm water events so its a bit complex and simplistic just to nominate one or two causes. Hopefully we can all learn more. Habitat change , in the sense of warmer oceans, seems to be one of forces at work in the mix.

Very good content because I just bought my speargun and start at wainui or taylors mistake
@KiwiKaimoana17 күн бұрын
yeah if you don't have any experience spearfishing, those are the 2 places to shore dive in Chch. If you go to Wainui, go to the 3 points rocks on west side, there's enough space to park about 3 cars on the rd, and it's a steep track going down with a rope to hold onto. Aim for high tide and dive the south side or far side of the rocks, north side is pretty barren. If you do Taylors Mistake, dive the south side if walking in from the beach as the north side has a dangerous rip current. You'll also have to contend with waves and swell at Taylors, so you can look at the Taylors surf cam which gives you a camera feed of the beach, and also water temperature and swell height. And at both places, don't bother pulling up pauas unless they look gigantic. You will struggle to find a legal paua in both spots.
@joey265817 күн бұрын
@@KiwiKaimoana I know the place but I think salmon truck need to do u turn there? If three car parks there he can not make the turb. Great tip for Taylors,thank you!

@@KiwiKaimoana I found two legal size around wainui this year😄 But yes too difficult motunau island is better place
@KiwiKaimoana16 күн бұрын
@@joey2658 no it's further down the road. The wharf in this video is the place where the salmon truck unloads. that's not where you wanna go, keep going down the road south about 200 or 300m. Look for the track going down the hill with the big long rope. When you find the very steep track going downhill with rope, you're in the right spot. that takes you to the 3 points rock. It's not at the wharf.
