Eddie was musically more gifted than Elvis, would have been bigger if he had survived

I have the great pleasure of knowing Eddie's bass player, Connie "Guybo" Smith. (5:00). Still alive and well, living in So.Cal.

Great interview, very congenial and relaxed...and strangely timeless. Could have happened last week. Hard to believe this conversation took place before even I was born.

That is fascinating information about Mr. Hover, and I am saddened to learn of his passing. Mr. Hover was my first journalism teacher, and I had the pleasure of working with him on the Rincon Echo. I can honestly say that if it weren't for him, I would never have gotten a journalism degree from the University of Arizona or worked for 14 years at the Tucson Citizen newspaper. I never knew how interesting his background was, only that "The Hove" was a kind and gentle soul. -30-

Yeah, I've read at least one book from the earlier half of the 20th Century that used the term "pathetic" to mean with pathos. Usage of that word to mean that meaning has vastly declined in today's time.

Thank you for posting this - my father had the common sense, when we were toddlers in the 1960s, to tell my siblings and myself about everyone from Eddie to Buddy to Sam, and we were the only 7 and 8 year olds that not only knew "Summertime Blues", but the story of the man singing it. Now I have passed it all onto my own boy, who asks, "Mom, when did they quit making real music like this?"

Eddie was a prophet who wasn't fully accepted in his own land. Which worked so much better for Eddie in England. The result - an inspiration for The Beatles, The Who, and The Rolling Stones. We love you, Eddie. We'll see you in Heaven.

It's like the Bible says, "A prophet is not accepted in his own land." That applies to you, Eddie, my brother. That's why you made more of an impact in England, which is just alright, since you influenced bands like The Beatles, The Who, and The Rolling Stones. God keep all of you in the U.K.!

Hi, I recall being glued to the radio when this series aired. Was the original voice/narration heard in Canada, or was another voice dubbed in to satisfy content rules? In any case, an extremely well written and presented series, essential listening for anyone too young to have been there. Cheers

"C'mon Everybody" was NOT a "flop". It peaked at #35 on the Billboard chart. Now, maybe #35 isn't as great at a top ten record or a million seller, but anything reaching the top 40 should not be considered a flop. Many recording artists would love to have a top 40 record. Secondly, Eddie's version of "Three Stars" was not "pathetic". That is an insult. It was a touching recording that came from his heart. Next time, the author should choose his words much more carefully.
