Every time I’ve mown my puckerbrush in the past few days I’ve thought about this video. I have wild ajuga, bishops weed, burdocks, and other invasive plants. Maybe if I planted microclover it just could choke out some of that mess. How did you sow it and where did you purchase it?
@TheWilleysOnOffGrid
@TheWilleysOnOffGrid Ай бұрын
I could possibly do that. Those are some larger plants, so I couldn't tell you for sure. I simply hand scattered before a light rain. A heavy rain will wash seeds away from where you want it, thus why I noticed it growing first on the slope and at the lull of our driveway where I didn't want it, but it is what it is. I have yet to scrape up the roots and transplant those "sheets" elsewhere. I love the stuff, and it is very cool under the barefoot on a very hot day.

@@TheWilleysOnOffGrid Thank you for the response. Scattering before a light rain makes a lot of sense. I think I'll try your method of transplanting it once established. It is hotter than all get out and it sure would be nice underfoot! I really love the look of that microfiber clover.

@TheWilleysOnOffGrid

So far, the microclover is choking out the sharp sedge grasses and working "with" the strawberries. I have far, far, far more strawberries this year than previous, which is odd.
@TheWilleysOnOffGrid

I'm talking about wild strawberries. This microclover is so soft and tender on the feet. Plush.

Question. With the micro clover, i assume when you mow you are just mowing the blossoms along with anything else that happens to be growung there as well of course.
@TheWilleysOnOffGrid
@TheWilleysOnOffGrid Ай бұрын
If the mower setting is on a lower setting, it'll take off the blossoms. If I think of it tomorrow, I'll get a ground shot comparing white clover to microclover.

Beautiful area! I live in Washington State west of the mountains, but we're very close to Mt. Rainier and Mt. St. Helens. We do a lot of hiking, and where we live also is pretty rural. We've got a little over five acres that I have put gardens in and some rabbits, chickens and ducks. I can't believe how similar Maine looks to here. We have a lot of the same medicinal plants, flowers, and also fiddleheads. We're also about an hour and a half from the ocean, closer as the crow flies. So we have the best of both worlds. Lots of lakes, too. Anyway, I'm always amazed at your videos because it looks like I'm looking at Western Washington😂. My husband thought the same thing when I showed this to him.

Raccoons , a mother with 7 babies , a few years ago , digging in a garbage bag on the porch at night , I went to get my big flashlight , came back and they were gone , shined the light everywhere , then up in the big Oak tree in front of the house , do their eyes glow ! We had a small pond at our old house. We put some fish in there. We had a racoon take the fish, and he left a small pile of little rocks next to the pond after taking them. I later heard that they will do that. Not the best trade for us, though, he was getting a way better deal😂
