Fantastic video! I have good luck leaving the yarn on the peg (uncut) and "walking" my loom up to it. I saw someone doing this with a horizontal warping board and it blew my mind! The cut comes when I'm right up on the peg.

I am sad to watch you assemble this gearbox incorrectly. It would have been a good idea for you to have taken a picture of the box prior to dissassembly, for reference when you are re-assemblying as you reassembled this box you have installed the input shaft through the front (capped) side of the case. The top fill caps and full caps/ plugs are toward the front of the deck for easy servicing. The video also does not show you installing the bottom seal over the output shaft. You would have noticed all of the gear oil pouring out of the bottom shaft upon refill.

There is another comment saying the same thing. I think what happened was that during editing, I used the wrong clip. In the end, the pulley went on and the box back onto the deck. I am sorry for the misused clip. Thanks for watching and pointing this out. I do take photos, more so videos before I do a project. Thanks for reminding me to do that! How far was you able to hear things
@MillGapFarms
@MillGapFarms 4 күн бұрын
For me it was dependent on the winds. On a windy day, not too far. On a quiet day 50m (54 yards). I don't use this all the time. but i can attest that it found a couple leaks that I had not found that were about year or two old. A bear had bitten the line and I could not find the leak on the back side of it. I was able to find the leaks on the top and bottom of the line but there was a bite on the back side that I could not hear or feel. For me, the cost of the tool (toy) was worth the sap we were able to save. If you live near us, you're welcome to come get it and give it a try. I have the CDL tool to find leaks and in the woods, it's not helpful. For it to work you have to be right at the leak. This device helped me scan a big area before narrowing down on the leak. As you can tell, I like it, it helped me. Thanks for watching our video and leaving your comment/question. Kevin

@@MillGapFarms Maybe this is a dumb question, but why is it not plastic pipe instead of metal rods? I would think that would be easier to pull out, but I'm a little ignorant of drilled wells. Most of my experience has been with dug wells and springs. Miss y'all too! your farm is so peaceful and relaxing.
@MillGapFarms
@MillGapFarms Күн бұрын
Metal is used beyond 150' down. It's best to use galvanized pipe too. The pressure at the bottom of the pipe where the pump is connected is beyond that of plastic. Maybe schedule 80 but I would not want to risk it. galvanized can handle a lot of pressure. Thanks for watching Mr. Sawyer. Kevin

Hello I’m in the process of rebuilding the gear box opened everything up everything seems good no damage and bearings are good but I did notice the shaft where you attach the pulley has a little bit of wiggle room. I’m just wondering if you noticed if yours has a little bit of play? I’m assuming that the play is not allowing the gears inside to mesh causing no spinning ?
@MillGapFarms
@MillGapFarms 7 күн бұрын
Sorry for any grammatical errors. I am delivering syrup at the present. If it’s not engaging then somethings wrong. Are you seeing any metal in the gear oil? thanks for watching our video Kevin
@milepetricevic7267
@milepetricevic7267 7 күн бұрын
@@MillGapFarms no material no damage but when I grab the shaft that the pulley is connected to I can push and pull it out maybe 1/8-1/4 of a inch I’m thinking that that is enough play for the gears inside to not engage. I’m just wondering when pulling on your shaft if you had any up and down movement ? Either the bearing is not holding the gear in place enough because it’s a friction piece or the washer thinned out over time. Thank you for posting it :)
@MillGapFarms
@MillGapFarms 7 күн бұрын
If there is no metal in the gear oil chances are it’s operating correctly. I did this gearbox about 2 years ago. I can’t remember how much play was in it. I’m thinking there was some. I can’t think of a reason why there would be play. Why did you pull the gear box a part? Did you have a leak? Was it crunchy sounding? Kevin

Kevin that is awesome placement for the camera. The chicks can be so mesmerizing and peaceful. Standing and looking DOWN on them is nice, but this is so much better. When I first saw your brooder, I thought it was just a metal basket that you re-purposed. I would love to have that setup, as having the chicks waist-height would make things a lot easier for old folk, and, I could have the chicks in the barn or stable without fear of the rats, or the cats who are supposed to control the rats, getting to the chicks. I notice at 9:07 the bearing is flush. Then it goes to you installing the shims and spring clip. I'm having trouble getting the bearing to go in deep enough for the spring clip to be installed. I've read other posts that say the parts diagram is incorrect and the bearing goes on the inside of the shoulder on the shaft. Is that what you did?

Thanks for watching our video Mr. Wilson. I all honestly, I don't remember. I do recall it being a little sloppy when I put it together and I don't know if that was how it was supposed to be. This belonged to a friend and he brought it to me damaged. I don't know how it felt originally. I do have a 72" deck on our mower but so far I have not had to remove the box from the deck. I did put a pulley on it... and in a similar fashion, it did not go on as I thought it should... I'm sorry I'm not more help. I would love to know how it ends up working for you. Kevin

Mine is also a 72", RCK72P. I've got it all back together and the only way I could get the bearing deep enough in the case was to put the bearing on the inside of the flange on the pinion shaft. Everything fit good so I'm pretty sure the parts diagram is incorrect. I tried it several times the way the diagram shows and couldn't get it to work. Thanks for your response.
